Atlanta Falcons trade back into the first round

The Falcons have built a solid foundation on offense with the quartet of Michael Penix Jr. at quarterback, Bijan Robinson at running back, Drake London at wide receiver and Kyle Pitts at tight end. Defense, though, has been an issue.

In the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, Atlanta put an emphasis on bolstering the defense, especially for getting after opposing quarterbacks. After selecting edge rusher Jalon Walker with the 15th overall pick, Atlanta traded back into the back end of the first round to select edge rusher James Pearce Jr.

In order to move up, Atlanta sent the Los Angeles Rams the No. 46 and 242 picks in the 2025 draft with a 2026 first rounder. Atlanta received the No. 26 and 101 picks.
