Mets closer Edwin Diaz has left this afternoon’s game against the Phillies following an injury in the 10th inning.
Diaz had not pitched more than a single inning in any of his prior 10 appearances in 2025, never even facing more than six opposing batters. In a season where almost everything has gone right for the Mets — including amazing starts from so many bullpen pieces — that has not been the case for Diaz. The former All-Star has seen his fastball velocity continue to dip, and that’s been paired with a career-high 14.3% walk rate and some home run issues.
