Another day of non-stop MLB action is on tap for Wednesday. 15 games will be played between 30 teams over nearly ten hours. Among the matchups to watch, playoff contenders meet at Wrigley Field when the Cubs host the Dodgers. Later on, Freddy Peralta’s Brewers face Logan Webb’s Giants in a battle between aces.
Ahead of all the action, here are two NRFI bets worth placing on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Rockies at Royals NRFI (-130)
On a Wednesday filled with marquee matchups, Colorado vs. Kansas City doesn’t really stand out. Regardless, value is value. It’s been a rough start for Rockies pitcher German Marquez. The veteran arm has allowed 17 earned runs over 16.1 innings this season (8.27 ERA). However, that number is inflated partially due to a nightmare seven-run, 0.2-inning outing vs. the Dodgers last week. Marquez isn’t his former All-Star self, but I don’t think he’s a scrub either.
Kansas City will send Michael Lorenzen (4.57 ERA) to the mound. Since 2024, the right-hander has recorded a 3.58 first inning ERA. He’ll face a Rockies offense that owns the league’s highest NRFI rate on the road (92.31%). On the other side, the Royals have scored in the first only twice over their last 11 games. As long as Marquez doesn’t implode against a mediocre lineup, this bet should hit.
Pirates at Angels NRFI (-120)
Let’s head west, where the Angels will hope to rebound following a 9-3 loss last night. That won’t be an easy task, as the visiting Pirates will hand the ball to Andrew Heaney. It’s been a terrific 2025 campaign for the 33-year-old. Through 25.1 innings, he’s allowed just six runs (2.13 ERA) while striking out 22 batters. Through four appearances, the lefty has allowed just one earned run in the first inning.
Los Angeles won’t have as much confidence in their starter, Jack Kochanowicz. The 24-year-old has been hit hard, surrendering 15 runs in 20.1 innings of work (6.20 ERA). However, he’ll get to face an atrocious Pirates offense on Wednesday. This season, Pittsburgh has scored in the first only once over ten road games (90.91% NRFI). Keeping that in mind, Kochanowicz has the (slight) edge in this spot; expect a low-scoring start in SoCal tonight.
