WATCH: John Cena won his 17th WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41

In the Main Event of WrestleMania 41, John Cena beat Cody Rhodes to win his 17th WWE Championship and break the record. This is Cena’s first singles victory at WrestleMania since 2015. Cena was previously tied with Ric Flair for the most Championships won at 16. This is Cena’s first WWE Championship since the 2017 Royal Rumble. 

Rhodes’ first reign as WWE Champion has officially come to an end after 378 days. The American Nightmare defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in April 2024 to win the title.
