The 16-time WWE Champion John Cena will attempt to win his record-breaking 17th title when he faces the Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes in the Main Event of WrestleMania Sunday. Cena shocked the world on March 1 at the Elimination Chamber when he joined forces with The Rock to turn heel and attack Rhodes.
Cena is currently tied with the legend Ric Flair with 16 championships. With Cena’s return at the end of 2025 nearing, this could be his last chance to make history. Rhodes has been the champion for over a year since defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in April 2024.
Even though Cena has been heavily booed in every arena he has been in since betraying the fans, if he could win the title, it would have a chance to be an all-time moment. Four years ago, Cena faced Reigns at SummerSlam at Allegiant Stadium and lost. That was his last chance at a title opportunity, as wins in singles competition have been scarce for Cena lately.
