Figuring out which pitchers thrive early, and which lineups struggle, is key to cashing in on this bet. Big-name starters are set to take the mound today, giving bettors several enticing options.
Ahead of all the action, here are two NRFI bets worth placing on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Nationals at Pirates NRFI (-130)
Mitchell Parker has gotten off to a terrific start in 2025, allowing four runs over 18.1 innings (1.96 ERA). It’s a much-needed development for the Nationals, a team lacking quality pitching depth. The second-year pro has a decent chance at continuing his success against an anemic Pirates offense. This season, Pittsburgh has averaged the fifth-fewest runs per game in baseball (3.33).
For the home team, Bailey Falter will get the nod. It’s been a rough start to the season for the lefty, who has recorded a 7.20 ERA over three starts. However, he’ll get to face a Washington lineup that has scored a first-inning run once over seven games on the road. In comparison, the Pirates have a first-inning scoring rate of 16.67%, second-lowest in baseball. Neither of these two offenses inspire much confidence, making this a prime NRFI spot.
Athletics at White Sox NRFI (-130)
A busy offseason saw the Athletics bring in starters Jeffrey Springs and Luis Severino. However, the two newcomers aren’t the only decent arms on this roster. Osvaldo Bido has gotten off to a great start, allowing five runs over 15.0 innings pitched (3.00 ERA). Tonight, he’ll face a White Sox squad averaging the fourth-fewest runs in baseball (3.31).
What’s most interesting about Chicago is its home NRFI rate of 70.0%, more than double its mark on the road. Since the start of 2024, Bido has allowed just four runs over 12 first inning frames. On the other side, Jonathan Cannon allowed one run over six innings vs. the Athletics last season. In 2024, the righty recorded a 3.43 first inning ERA over 21 starts. Two mediocre (at best) offenses meeting at a pitcher’s park? This is a prop bet worth considering ahead of tonight’s NRFI slate.
