All 30 teams are taking the field on Wednesday for a loaded 15-game MLB slate. That includes a battle between the surging Giants and the contending Phillies at Citizen’s Bank Park. In Toronto, Spencer Strider will make his much-anticipated season debut for the Braves. Later this evening, the Yankees will attempt to complete a sweep of the Royals in the Bronx.

Spencer Strider less than 1.5 earned runs allowed
You knew we had to target something involving Strider to kick things off. Atlanta’s ace is returning at the perfect time; the team is at the bottom of the NL East with a 5-12 record. Prior to 2024’s season-ending UCL surgery, the right-hander was on track for another remarkable campaign. Since 2022, no other pitcher ranks higher in K% (37.1%), K/9 (13.61), and FIP (2.50).
The 26-year-old has an enticing matchup on deck this afternoon. Toronto, despite possessing a few terrific bats, is averaging the tenth-fewest runs per game this season (4.06). Other than George Springer (199 wRC+), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (107) and Bo Bichette (107), the Blue Jays lack hitting depth. In addition, Braves manager Brian Snitker will keep Strider on a strict pitch count, limiting any potential damage. One of the sport’s best arms is poised for a triumphant return on Wednesday.
Austin Riley more than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
Let’s stay up North, where the Braves will hope to earn their first series win of the season. On an underperforming roster, Austin Riley has been a dependable source of production so far. Through 17 games, the third baseman is hitting .300 while driving in five home runs and 12 RBIs. Over his last two games in Toronto, the 28-year-old has gone 4-for-8 while knocking three long balls.
Riley should keep up his success at the plate on Wednesday. The Blue Jays are sending veteran Chris Bassitt to the mound. While the 36-year-old hurler is a reliable starter, his current 0.98 ERA is too good to be true. Given the way their offense has looked over the last week, it’s difficult to fade the Braves right now. Assuming his teammates find a way to get on base, Atlanta’s hottest hitter is a fantasy baseball must-start.
Steven Kwan more than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
In a sport filled with all-or-nothing sluggers, Steven Kwan is a breath of fresh air. What the outfielder lacks in power he makes up for with terrific defense, decent speed, and elite contact hitting. This season, the leadoff man has recorded a .391 on-base percentage and 13 runs scored, fourth-most in the American League. It helps to hit in front of Jose Ramirez, one of baseball’s most dangerous bats.
The Guardians enter tonight’s contest in an ideal spot. Orioles starter Dean Kremer has struggled mightily against Cleveland, recording a 6.50 ERA over four career starts. If that trend continues on Wednesday, nobody stands to benefit from extra at-bats more than Kwan. Expect activity on the base paths for the former All-Star in this one.
Trea Turner less than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
On a Phillies offense loaded with talent, Trea Turner can get lost in the shuffle. Signed prior to the start of the 2023 season, it’s been a good (not great) three years in Philly. Since joining the team, he’s produced 48 homers, 142 RBIs, and 53 stolen bases while recording a .327 OBP. Those all-around skills are certainly valuable, just not enough to justify an 11-year, $300 million deal.
It’s been another mediocre start for Turner, slashing .224/.308/.328. Over his last six games, the infielder has gone 4-for-26 at the plate. There’s a good chance that continues tonight against Robbie Ray and the Giants. The former Cy Young winner has returned to form this season, posting a 2.93 ERA over three starts. A surging pitcher vs. a struggling batter makes this an easy choice. Another slow day on offense is likelier than not against San Francisco’s phenomenal pitching.
Jose Soriano less than 2.5 earned runs allowed
It’s been a solid first few weeks for the Angels, owners of a respectable 9-7 record. Should fans expect this above .500 season to continue? No, but the organization has plenty of reasons for optimism going forward. That includes the development of pitcher Jose Soriano. Last year, the righty generated a 3.42 ERA over 113.0 innings pitched. He’s carried that momentum into 2025, allowing just six runs over 20.0 frames (2.70 ERA).
In one of the more surprising stats this season, the Rangers have averaged baseball’s third-fewest runs per game (3.24). While that likely won’t last long, the time is now to fade this offense. Soriano has had a brief amount of success in this spot, holding Texas to one run over 7.2 innings last May. The 26-year-old has the potential for an encore performance on Wednesday night.
Bobby Miller less than 5.5 strikeouts
Now that Blake Snell (shoulder) is on the injured list, Bobby Miller has returned to the majors. It’s been a bumpy ride for the right-hander following a solid rookie season in 2023. Last year, Miller put up a ghastly 8.52 ERA, plagued by injuries and underperformance. After pitching nine innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City, he’ll hope to turn things around tonight.
The Rockies are lightweights with the bat, averaging the fewest runs away from Coors Field (1.45). In addition, Colorado hitters lead the National League in total strikeouts (179). Still, it’s difficult to put a lot of faith in Miller. The 26-year-old has struggled with his command in the minors this year, walking 11 batters over 12.0 innings. Even if he finds some level of success, the Dodgers have one of the sport’s best bullpens. There’s no reason for manager Dave Roberts to leave the young fireballer in for more than a handful of innings.
