Major League Baseball has an awesome 11-game main slate on Tuesday night with plenty of strong MLB DFS options to use at a variety of positions and price points. While there are some superstars worth paying up for, there are also some great bargain plays from the 22 teams in the player pool. SP Ryan Pepiot, Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox, $7,400
The Red Sox lineup has lots of potential, but over their last few games, the team has struggled to score runs against the Blue Jays, White Sox and Rays. Since exploding for 18 runs in the second game of last Sunday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals, the Red Sox have scored just 15 runs over eight games. They scored two runs or fewer in two of three games in Chicago and were held to just one run in the first game of their series in Tampa.
Pepiot will look to continue their struggles on Tuesday night. In his three starts this season, he went 1-1 and gave up six earned runs across 16 innings. In his first start, he went six scoreless innings against the Rockies, earning a season-high 22.7 fantasy points. He went five innings in each of his two starts since then, taking a loss to the Pirates but earning a win over the Angels. He has 16 strikeouts in 16 innings on the season and generated 16 first-pitch strikes and 15 whiffs on 91 pitches in his last outing, indicating he could be in position for more strikeouts going forward.
He’s catching the Boston lineup at a great time, and since his salary is under $7,500, he brings a very high ceiling as a bargain play for MLB DFS.
OF Oscar Gonzalez, San Diego Padres vs. Chicago Cubs, $2,300
The Padres are still undefeated at home after picking up their MLB-leading 14th win on Monday by beating the Cubs. What makes their start even more impressive is that they’ve stayed rolling this last week without superstar Jackson Merrill (hamstring). Since Merrill landed on IL, Gonzalez has joined the mix in the Padres’ outfield. Before getting called up, he hit .290 with the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas while hitting three home runs with a .432 wOBA.
Last year with the Yankees, Gonzalez had 10 homers in 83 minor league games while posting a .294 batting average with a .362 wOBA. He has been starting against lefties, so he should be in the lineup against Shota Imanaga ($8,700), and provide nice upside at a salary just over the minimum.
2B Chase Meidroth, Chicago White Sox vs. Athletics, $2,200
The White Sox called up Chase Meidroth for their weekend series against his former team, the Red Sox. The 23-year-old prospect was ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the Chicago system after being part of the trade that landed Garrett Crochet in Boston. Since arriving, Meidroth has hit safely in each of his three games, going 3-for-7 with three walks and three runs scored for 7.0 fantasy points per game.
In Triple-A, he hit three home runs and had two stolen bases in his nine games with a .267 batting average and .473 wOBA. He spent 2024 in Triple-A for the Worcester Red Sox, hitting .293 with seven homers and 13 stolen bases. He doesn’t have elite power or speed, but his hit tool is strong enough that his high contact and patient approach at the plate makes him an attractive play at this bargain rate since he’ll likely deliver something as long as he’s in the lineup. On Tuesday, he and the White Sox open their series by facing lefty Jeffrey Springs ($8,200).
