15 games between 30 different teams are on deck for baseball fans tonight. That includes a battle between the surging Giants and the contending Phillies at Citizen’s Bank Park. Elsewhere, Max Fried takes the mound for the Yankees in a playoff rematch with the Royals. As a nightcap, division leaders meet in San Diego when the Padres host the Cubs.

Connor Gillispie less than 3.5 strikeouts
On a Marlins team that lacks pitching depth, Connor Gillispie has emerged as a solid contributor. Through three starts, the right-hander has only allowed six runs over 14.0 innings (3.86 ERA). During that time, he’s struck out 12 batters while giving up 11 hits. Two of those outings came against an elite Mets offense; better days could be in store for the 27-year-old.
There’s reason for optimism in regards to Gillispie, but tonight’s matchup does him no favors. The Diamondbacks enter Tuesday having scored the fifth-most runs per game in baseball (5.13) while striking out at the league’s second-lowest rate. Gillispie has thrown no more than 85 pitches in any of his starts, so time is limited. Miami’s promising rookie will likely need to prioritize getting outs via soft contact rather than whiffs in this one.
Aaron Judge less than 2.5 hits + runs + RBIs
Even when he isn’t hitting for power, Aaron Judge remains a force at the plate. During his nine-game homer-less streak, the outfielder has still managed to hit .355 while driving in three runs. Hitting second in a loaded lineup, the Yankees’ captain is usually guaranteed plenty of at-bats. Over 38 career games vs. Kansas City, the two-time MVP has recorded a career .306 batting average with 13 home runs.
The big man’s recent success against the Royals might not matter on Tuesday. Veteran hurler Michael Wacha will toe the slab for KC. In 18 career plate appearances vs. the righty, Judge has tallied just one hit. The former All-Star usually performs well in this spot, posting a 2.97 ERA over 11 outings vs. New York. Even the game’s best hitter isn’t immune to a letdown game. All signs are pointing in that direction ahead of tonight’s battle in the Bronx.
Walker Buehler more than 2.5 earned runs allowed
It’s been a less-than-stellar start to Walker Buehler’s Red Sox career. The former Dodger has continued his struggles from 2024, delivering a 5.74 ERA over three starts. Since 2022, the 30-year-old has surrendered 84 runs over 156.0 innings pitched (4.85 ERA). However, he did log seven innings of one-run ball on Thursday vs. the Blue Jays.
Last week’s outing was promising, but tonight’s contest isn’t ideal for any starter. Steinbrenner Field, the temporary home of the Rays, is a true hitter’s park. Tampa Bay’s 5.23 runs per game at GMS rank eighth in all of baseball. Buehler has had issues limiting fly balls, coughing up 19 homers over his last 91 innings of play. Those numbers could spell disaster on a field that is modeled after the current Yankee Stadium’s short porch.
Juan Soto more than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
Despite his pedestrian start at the plate, last night’s showing in Minnesota was a welcome sign for Juan Soto. The outfielder hammered his first home run since March, leading the Mets to a 5-1 victory over the Twins. New York’s newest superstar will look to keep his momentum going during the second game of the series on Tuesday.
If there’s one thing to know about Soto, it’s his ability to heat up at any given moment. In spite of a mediocre first month, the All-Star is more than capable of delivering a prolonged hitting streak. Tonight, he’ll get to face Minnesota starter Bailey Ober. The hurler has had trouble against left-handed batters, allowing a .316 batting average to southpaws this season. Expect even more production from Soto on Tuesday in the heart of a stacked Mets lineup.
Jeffrey Springs more than 16.5 outs
This winter, the Athletics made some savvy moves to bolster their starting rotation. One of the more under-the-radar deals of the offseason brought Tampa Bay’s Jeffrey Springs out west. When healthy, the lefty possesses some of the best stuff in baseball. Unfortunately, he’s tossed just 64.0 innings since 2023.
It’s been a mixed bag for Springs thus far; he’s recorded a 4.20 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over three starts. Regardless, the 32-year-old will have a golden opportunity on Tuesday vs. the White Sox. Chicago has averaged 3.33 runs per game the season, the fifth-lowest mark in baseball. In addition, Springs has logged at least six innings in two of his three appearances. Don’t be shocked if the A’s keep their new ace on the mound against an atrocious offense.
Freddie Freeman more than 0.5 RBIs
The Dodgers have been somewhat mediocre on offense, averaging only the 13th-most runs per game (4.39). A large reason for LA’s struggles has been the absence of Freddie Freeman. The former MVP missed multiple weeks due to an ankle sprain, returning last Friday. Since coming off of the IL, the first baseman has gone 3-for-12 at the dish.
It’s only a matter of time until the future Hall of Famer gets back on track. Why not tonight against Ryan Feltner? Colorado’s starter has accounted for a 5.79 ERA over six career games vs. Los Angeles. Even if it’s against the bullpen, Freeman has hit .378 over his last ten meetings with the Rockies. Another solid day at the plate should lead to run production for the veteran.
