MLB Injury Update: Mets OF Jose Siri has fractured tibia

UPDATE 4/21/25: Siri will miss eight to 10 weeks.

Per New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, Jose Siri has a fractured tibia and will be placed on the injured list.

The Mets outfielder went down in a heap on Saturday against the Athletics after fouling a ball off his leg. He’s optimistic that surgery won’t be required to fix the injury. However, leg fractures can be unpredictable when it comes to recovery. He was in good spirits at his press conference.

The 29-year-old outfielder was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in the offseason. Primarily known for his defense, Siri was off to a rough start at the plate to begin the year. Fractured tibias never come at a good time, but mid-slump hurts even more. Since Siri went down, Tyrone Taylor has taken his spot in center field.

A timetable for Siri’s recovery has not yet been provided. We will provide updates when the Mets outline his recuperation.
