Every Path Has a Price. Pretty sweet tagline for a season of television, honestly—sounds just similar enough in tone to The Walking Dead to get folks riled up for whatever Neegan-esque consequences Craig Mazin and Neil Druckermann have in store for us in The Last of Us season 2. I get you set below on all you need to strap in for the series premiere on Sunday night.
Indeed, The White Lotus mourners. You don’t even have a week in between the finale of one prestige series and the kickoff of another. The time slot’s officially been taken. HBO will release episodes of The Last of Us, beginning with the premiere on this Sunday evening, April 13th, on Sundays at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT.

The Last of Us Story and Casting Notes
Kaitlyn Dever fans unite. Those of us who’ve been waiting for Dever’s next big dramatic break after her Booksmart-burst onto Hollywood—our ship hath come in. By now, we all know she’ll be playing the role of Abby. As to Abby’s exact premise and backstory, I’m going to be careful not to reveal anything, here. Important to know that The Last of Us is indeed my favorite narrative video game franchise, and so I’m aware of most of the narrative direction this series takes.
What’s very clear from the trailer, however, is that there’s tension between Joel and Ellie after he lied to her about rescuing her from the Firefly hospital in Salt Lake City to end the first season. It appears Joel and Ellie have made solid quarter in a village, and in trying to establish a regimen of normalcy to their lives, all the perilous choices and paths they took to arrive where they are now are rearing their ugly heads.
If there’s one thing this trailer wants us to understand, it’s that no one is safe. Joel and Ellie appear, at all times, surrounded by propulsive terror.
And, of course, every path has a price, right? We know which paths our hero and heroine took last season. Who’s going to pay up, and just how much is it going to cost?
I’m confident in saying that this trailer and my light breeze of a season overview should be enough to square you away for Sunday’s premiere. You don’t need to know too much more than what you saw above. But, golly—I’m sure excited to see the dynamic between Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey play out this season.
