Aaron Judge More Than 0.5 Home Runs
It has been a bit of a slow few days for Aaron Judge. After a roaring start to the season, it has been a week since Judge hit a home run. This could be the perfect spot for him to get back to his power-hitting ways. The Yankees are facing Giants starter Jordan Hicks at Yankee Stadium this afternoon. In six career at-bats against Hicks, Judge has two home runs. Judge has always been better at home, with a tOPS+ of 108 when playing at Yankee Stadium. Judge should continue his dominance against Hicks and launch one out of Yankee Stadium today.
Ke’Bryan Hayes More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Ke’Bryan Hayes has had a solid start to this season. He should keep it rolling tonight against the left-handed Andrew Abbott. In his short MLB career, Abbott has been great against lefties but terrible against right-handed batters. Opposing right-handed batters have a tOPS+ of 111 against Abbott. Ke’Bryan Hayes also has some of the most extreme lefty/righty splits in baseball. Hayes has a career tOPS+ of 133 against left-handed pitching, compared to a tOPS+ of 87 against righties. Against Abbott specifically, Hayes has two home runs in five at-bats. He has been great against Abbott and left-handers his whole career, and he should get over 1.5 total bases tonight.
Ryan Mountcastle More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Ryan Mountcastle has had two multi-hit games in his past four starts. He should keep that positive momentum rolling in a very favorable pitching matchup against Bowden Francis. Mountcastle has five career at-bats against Francis, and four of those have resulted in hits. Of those four hits, two have been doubles, and two have been home runs. Francis struggled in his last start against the Mets, giving up six hits in five innings of work. He also gave up two home runs in his start before that. Mountcastle has crushed Francis in the past and should pick up an extra-base hit in this game to go over 1.5 total bases.
Miles Mikolas More Than 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed
Miles Mikolas has had a poor start to his season. In his last start against the Red Sox, he gave up eight earned runs in just 2.2 innings of action. Mikolas couldn’t get a batter out, giving up 11 hits in those 2.2 innings. Now, Mikolas faces a tough Phillies lineup. Mikolas has bad career numbers against multiple Phillies, including Trea Turner, Alec Bohm, Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos. Some of those power bats should be able to get after Mikolas and rack up a few runs in this game. In eight career starts against the Phillies, he has an ERA of 4.29 and should struggle again today.
Brandon Nimmo More Than 1.5 Total Bases
It has been a decent start to the season for Brandon Nimmo, and he just hit a home run last night in the Mets’ first game in Sacramento against the Athletics. He should keep that positive momentum going today against J.T. Ginn. This will be Ginn’s first action of this season, and he only has six career starts. Nimmo should capitalize on that inexperience and get another extra-base hit today. Nimmo has a career tOPS+ of 104 against right-handed pitchers, so he should pick up multiple hits in this game, especially with the poor Athletics bullpen coming in after Ginn.
Fernando Tatis Jr. More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Fernando Tatis Jr. is off to a strong start this season. He has an OPS of 1.030 through 13 games and should keep it rolling tonight. Chase Dollander is a rookie pitcher for the Rockies and really struggled in his first career start. Dollander gave up seven hits, four runs and two home runs against the Athletics. That is a sub-par lineup to be giving up that many extra-base hits against. Tatis just hit a home run last night in the first game of the series against the Rockies. He should keep the momentum rolling and get another extra-base hit off of Dollander in this game.
