UFC 314 is tonight in Miami, and former UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski is headlining the event against Diego Lopes for the vacant 145-pound title. Volk is chasing greatness once again, as he looks to become the second-ever two-time featherweight champion.
Here is my favorite prop bet for Volkanovski against Lopes tonight at UFC 314.
Alexander Volkanovski over 99.5 significant strikes (-115)
Volkanovski’s last two fights haven’t gone his way as Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria knocked him out. But he is still a phenomenal striker and one of the best in the UFC. Although Volk has recorded 70 or fewer significant strikes in his last four fights, this is an excellent position for a bounce-back performance.
You can get Volkanovski to total more than 99.5 significant strikes at -115 on DraftKings Sportsbook. During his first five title fights, Volk recorded at least 137 significant strikes in each fight. The longer this fight between Lopes and Volkanovski lasts, the more it favors the former champion.
Volk has a wide gap in experience, as this will be his 10th straight title fight and fifth-round bout. Lopes is coming off his best career win against Brian Oretega, but hasn’t appeared in a five-round contest yet in the UFC. Six of Volkanovski’s last nine fights have lasted four or more rounds. Volk lands 6.16 significant strikes per minute at a 56 percent rate. Both of those are better than Lopes, and if Volk displays the same level of aggressiveness as he did in his first title reign, a big striking performance is likely.
