2025 Masters Round 3 Live Updates

Hello, friends! Welcome to moving day at the 89th Masters Tournament. After the cut following round 2 reduced the field to 53 golfers for Saturday and Sunday, the field will be back in action for the weekend. Throughout the day on Saturday, we’ll provide live updates on the latest from Augusta National Golf Club. We’ll keep a close eye on the top of the leaderboard as well as the three DraftKings contests that award a $1 Million top prize.

Here’s the latest:

Leaderboard heading into Final Round:

Rory Looks Human But Still In Control At The Turn (4:49 PM)

It’s been another awesome day following all the action at Augusta National, and I’ll be back tomorrow for another live blog of the Final Round of this year’s Masters, so be sure to check back on DK Network tomorrow afternoon, as we cover the thrilling conclusion to the 89th Masters Tournament.

All the pieces are in place for an awesome finish to the event with stars all over the leaderboard. The leaders are through the front nine of Round 3. Rory has taken over control of the event with a scorching start, although he did give back a stroke on the par 5 No. 8 after starting -5 through his first five holes.

No one behind him was able to take advantage of his slip-up on No. 8, though, since Bryson DeChambeau bogeyed No. 7 before getting a birdie on No. 8. That birdie leaves him two back headed into hole No. 9.

Corey Conners got a birdie on No. 9 and climbed into a tie for third with Justin Rose.

Coming to the close of his round, Nico Echavarria birdied No. 17 and moved to -3 on the day and is in the clubhouse tied for tenth along with Zach Johnson, who still has the round of the day at -6 in Round 3.

Rory Saves Par on No. 6 and No. 7 (4:08 PM)

After scorching the course for -5 through five holes Rory settled in for back-to-back pars on No. 6 and No. 7. On No. 7 he hit a wayward drive but was able to avoid tree trouble and hit a great chip to set up a short par saver.

Rory remains three strokes clear of Bryson DeChambeau, who has made three straight pars after his bogey on No. 3. Shane Lowry has moved into a tie with Justin Rose at -7 in a tie for third place while Jason Day and Viktor Hovland round out the top five as the leaders near the turn. Hovland made back-to-back birdies on No. 8 and No. 9 to get to -2 for the day.

Further back, Max Homa continues his remarkable resurgence this week and is -3 through 16 holes to move to T15 at this point. Masters rookie Davis Thompson also moved into the top 20 with his -2 in Round 3, which is tied for the fourth-lowest round completed on the day.–Zach Thompson

Rory Running Away? (3:38 PM)

Rory started Round 3 with five straight threes to be -5 through five holes. He has an eagle and three birdies after nailing another birdie putt on No. 5. Since Bryson DeChambeau dropped a shot on No. 3, Rory is three shots clear of Bryson, who remains in solo second place one shot ahead of Justin Rose, who bogeyed the par 3 hole No. 4.

Rory looks totally dialed in right now and the rest of the field will have no chance of catching him if he keeps this impressive form. We’ve seen him have some epic collapses, though, so this round and this tournament are nowhere close to over.

Lower down the leaderboard on this moving day, no one has been quite as hot as Rory but Zach Johnson still has the round of the day at -6 in the clubhouse. Sungae Im also just had his second chip-in of the day and is -3 through eight holes to climb to -8 and into the tie for fifth place.

It’s a star-studded leaderboard full of contenders, but right now it’s Rory’s world at Augusta and everyone else is just living in it.–Zach Thompson

Rory McIlroy Builds Lead (3:20 PM)

After holding the solo lead after Round 1 and Round 2, Justin Rose started with two consecutive pars on Saturday in the Masters Round 3. The rest of the leaderboard jumped past him, though, and Rory added another birdie on No. 3.

He started -4 through the first three holes and took a two-shot lead momentarily before Bryson DeChambeau rolled in his birdie on No. 2.

To reset the top of the leaderboard–Rory is at -10, Bryson at -9, and Rose at -8. Corey Conners dropped a shot on No. 4 to move into a five-way tie for fourth that includes Jason Day, Scottie Scheffler, Sugjae Im, and Shane Lowry.–Zach Thompson

Birdies In Bunches For The Leaders (3:03 PM)

The leaders are off and ready to go low this Saturday, and we have a new leader!

Rory McIlroy converted his monster drive on No. 1 to a birdie and followed it with a chip-in eagle on No. 2. His -3 start over two holes has him at -9 for the tournament and alone in first place. Bryson DeChambeau also notched a birdie to catch Justin Rose in what is now a tie for second behind Rory.

Corey Conners, Shane Lowry, Jason Day and Scottie Scheffler also have early birdies in their rounds and all remain in the hunt. The only players in the top 10 not under par for the day right now are Matt McCarty through three and Justin Rose, who saved par at No. 1 after driving into a bunker.

Well, he still has a ways to go, but Rory seems ready to roll.

Zach Johnson Cards A 66 On Masters Moving Day (2:39 PM)

As the leaders prepare to tee off, we already have our first big move of moving day, and it came from a pretty unexpected source. 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson had not carded a round under 70 at Augusta since 2015, but he was on point throughout Round 3.

He started with an eagle on No. 2 and added six birdies and two bogeys throughout the rest of his round to finish -6 for the day and move to -4 for the tournament. When he concluded his round, that was good enough for T11, but we’ll see how the course plays the rest of the day to find out exactly where he’ll start his Final Round.

No other player in the clubhouse was within three strokes of Johnson’s Round 3 but Jordan Spieth and Max Greyserman both closed out solid -3 rounds to move under par for the week and into the top 25 for the tournament. LIV Golf players Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm made some early noise and finished -2 for the day to move back to even par for the tournament.

We’ll keep an eye on players climbing into contention, but most of the focus will now turn to Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Bryson DeChambeau and Corey Conners in the final two groups.–Zach Thompson

An Rising; JT falling (2:26 PM)

Zach Johnson’s charge up the leaderboard suffered a setback on No. 17 with a bogey, dropping him to -6 for the day with one hole remaining. Another big mover from the early groups of the Masters Round 3 is Byeong Hun An, who is -4 through his first 13 holes after five birdies in six holes after a birdie on the par 5 No. 13. That charge has moved him up to T15 at -3 for the tournament.

For all the players moving up, though, there are also some big names crashing out and sinking fantasy golf lineups. Justin Thomas is one of the biggest names backing up on Saturday. He has five bogeys on the day and is +4 through 12 holes to fall into a T50. Masters rookie Brian Campbell is alone in solo 53rd place, last among the players who made the cut. Aaron Rai is at +3 for the day and +3 for the tournament while J.J. Spaun and Akshay Bhatia are each +2 for the round and +4 for the tournament. —Zach Thompson

Zach Johnson Turns Back The Clock (2:10 PM)

Augusta National is scorable this Saturday. While it definitely isn’t easy, there are low scores available. 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson has been on fire since early in his round and continues to be the biggest early mover on the board.

He opened with a 41-foot putt for eagle on No. 2 and then on No. 9 started a stretch of six birdies over eight holes. After sticking his tee shot to a foot away on the par 3 No. 16 in the highlight below and T40 on the cutline.

Overall, the course is playing almost one stroke under par after playing +1.59 in Round 1 and +0.67 in Round 2. —Zach Thompson

Former Champions On The Move In Masters Round 3 (1:35 PM)

While it’s very normal for previous Masters champions to have big weekends and climb the leaderboard, one not many people saw coming was a third-round surge from 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson.

The 49-year-old has the low round of the day going and is -5 through 13 holes to get to -3 overall and move up to T13 at this point.

2015 Masters champion Jordan Spieth is to -3 on the day with just two holes left, which has him under par for the tournament. Collin Morikawa, who is looking for his first Masters championship, moved into the top 10 with a birdie on his first hole of the day.

The first man on the course, Tom Kim has reached his final hole of the day, and the course difficulty has moved to slightly over par for the field in Round 3. —Zach Thompson

Masters Purse Details (1:12 PM)

As we get close closer to the contenders teeing off, here’s a quick reminder of what they’re all playing for. Not only does the winner get the green jacket and the prestige of winning the year’s first major championship, but they also claim a huge chunk of the Masters purse which was announced this morning.

While the Masters’ purse is definitely hefty, it isn’t the largest available. The highest paying major championship remains the U.S. Open. Last year, the USGA paid $21.5 million in prize money while the PGA Championship increased its purse to $18.5 million and the Open Championship increased to $17 million.

However, it isn’t even a major that has the biggest purse in golf–that distinction belongs to THE PLAYERS Championship, which paid out $25 million in March. Winner Rory McIlroy earned a massive payday of $4.5 million. He’ll be in the second-to-last group to tee off in about 90 minutes —Zach Thompson

Patrick Cantlay And Other Big Names Get Under Par (12:45 PM)

We’re still waiting for someone to really go on a run and vault into contention, but some players are starting to gather momentum and move under par for the tournament. Jon Rahm already has four birdies to go with his one bogey on the front nine and is now -1 for the tournament as he makes the turn.

Patrick Cantlay is also -1 for the tournament after a -3 on the front nine with his big leap coming on this magnificent eagle.

At -3, those two golfers have the lowest rounds on the course so far in the Masters Round 3, with Jordan Spieth, Zach Johnson and Max Greyserman on the course at -2.

We’re still about two hours away from the leaders teeing off, but we’re starting to get enough data to get an idea that the course is gettable on this Saturday and low rounds are out there. We haven’t seen the final few holes, though, which are usually among the toughest. —Zach Thompson

Joaquin Niemann And Jordan Spieth At -2 Making The Turn (12:11 PM)

No one has taken off and shot up the leaderboard yet this Saturday after Jon Rahm dropped a shot after opening with three straight birdies. Two of the best rounds on the course do belong to big games, though. Joaquin Niemann and Jordan Spieth are each at -2 through nine holes and back to even par for the tournament.

 Jon Rahm and Charl Schwartzel are also back to even par for the tournament and -2 for the day as they continue their first nine holes.

No player has been able to get under par for the tournament to this point on Saturday but several players starting at that mark are in the groups beginning now.

In the very early data from Round 3, the course is playing under par and the easiest it has all week. So far, No. 3 is the easiest hole on the course, and the par 3 No. 6 is playing the hardest. —Zach Thompson

Jon Rahm Off To A Fast Start In Masters Round 3 (11:17 AM)

2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm had a rough start to the week with a +3 opening round that included five bogeys in his first 11 holes and a near club snap. He has turned things around since then, though, and finished Friday -1 to make the cut on the number.

He’s off to a sizzling start to Round 3 with three straight birdies. He was in 14.7% of entries in the DraftKings $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire with a $10 entry and 20.5% of entries in the $4M Fantasy Golf MEGA Millionaire, which had a $3,333 entry.

I can neither confirm nor deny that his hot start has anything to do with his magenta pants. What I can confirm is that he is at -3 for the day while Joaquin Niemann and Zach Johnson are both at -2 in the early going. Heading the other direction, Stephan Jaeger is +2 through five holes.–Zach Thompson

Masters Round 3 Underway (11:00 AM)

The Masters Round 3 began with Tom Kim playing solo as the first group off the tee. He starts the day at +2 in a large group 10 strokes off the pace set by Justin Rose. Rose won’t tee off until 2:40 p.m. ET when he’ll play alongside Bryson DeChambeau in the final group of the day. Just before him, Rory McIlroy and Corey Conners will be in another marquee group that goes off at 2:30.

The action on the course is already heating up with players getting ready to make a move to get into position for Sunday’s Final Round.

Niemann is -2 through his first four holes and climbed back to even-par for the tournament, jumping up to T22 in the early going. Niemann’s fellow LIV Golf star Jon Rahm is also under par in the early going after a birdie on No. 1 to start his day.
