Unabated is an industry leader in real-time betting data and profitable sports betting tools. For the NBA season, they created the industry’s first-ever Conditional Projections. Every day, the Unabated NBA team creates projection sets for different scenarios based upon which key players are Questionable on the injury report with massive potential ramifications on the slate.
If you’ve played an NBA slate as a DFS player or prop bettor, you know the deal: the injuries are everything. A minute here or there can be the difference between good chalk and bad chalk, quality value or lineup-ruining value, or an over/under winning or losing by the hook.
Every day we have dozens of players marked as Questionable up until game time with their statuses often impacting the edges or microedges you can have. A couple of times each week throughout this NBA season on DraftKings Network, I’ve brought you the latest news and information on a few of the players who seem most noteworthy in Unabated’s Conditional Projections. It’s been a lot of fun to put together so thank you for reading all season long (as well as to our friends at DraftKings Network and Unabated for the opportunity)!
That said, we’ve got one more regular season slate to go. The Unabated NBA team, led by industry veteran Justin Phan, currently has 10 different conditional projection sets on a day where there are 26 players currently marked Questionable and 136 (!!) players already ruled out for tonight’s games.
Today, we’ll talk about Sixers wing Quentin Grimes, currently expected to have a 50% chance to play tonight at home versus Atlanta. Grimes has been one of my favorite plays in DraftKings DFS tournaments and prop bets this year with a gaudy 32.5% usage rate, 8.9% rebound rate, 26.4% assist rate, and 1.31 DraftKings Points Per Minute with Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, Joel Embiid, and Kelly Oubre off the court. Grimes has been a revelation of statistical production for a Sixers team actively tanking to preserve their draft pick down the home stretch. Grimes’ status could be a key one tonight for DFS and prop bets.
Unabated NBA currently projects Grimes for 24 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.3 assists on the chance that he plays. The Sixers have a lofty 114.8 point implied total tonight for their matchup with the Hawks, so Grimes would stand to benefit from his impressive shot earning if he’s on the court.
If he’s out, it’s a whole new world for his Sixers teammates who’ve largely deferred to Grimes this year. Here’s how Unabated NBA’s Conditional Projections view this Grimes availability either/or for tonight’s Hawks-Sixers game:
- Jared Butler projects for 15.4 points, 3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists (13.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists if Grimes is in)
- Lonnie Walker projects for 19.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists (17.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists if Grimes is in)
- Justin Edwards projects for 15.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists (13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists if Grimes is in)
- Adem Bona projects for 14.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists (13.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists if Grimes is in)
Due to how impactful Grimes’ status is on the other Sixers, there are currently no over/under prop bet markets available for the team on DraftKings Sportsbook. If Grimes is out, the other Sixers (in particular Butler, Walker, and Edwards) are ripe for overs the second their lines become available. The Sixers would also become more compelling DFS plays in tonight’s DraftKings tournaments if Grimes is unavailable due to this appealing matchup at home versus the Hawks.
Hawks at Sixers tips off at 7 p.m. EST, so you should safely know Grimes’ status in advance of the remaining chaos of tonight’s NBA slate with EVERY team in action. Whether he plays or not tonight, I wish a warm thank you to Quentin Grimes for his service this year. Good luck to you tonight and the rest of the NBA season!
