Padres IF Jake Cronenworth Injury Update: 4/11/25

Jake Cronenworth was hit by a pitch in the rib area during Sunday’s game. The initial diagnosis was a cramp but, on Friday, the Padres placed Cronenworth on the 10-day injured list with a non-dispaced rib fracture. It is retroactive to April 9.

Cronenworth was able to play on Monday and Tuesday, but was held out on Wednesday.

INF/OF Tyler Wade was called up.

Cronenworth was manning second base and batting mostly fifth or seventh in the order. In 44 plate appearances this season, Cronenworth was slashing .257/.409/.486 with an 18.2% walk rate, 20.5% strikeout rate and .229 ISO. He has two home runs.

Jose Iglesias will likely start at second base for as long as Cronenworth is out. Iglesias has 16 plate appearances on the season. He has little power or speed. The ISO has been above .120 only once in his 13-year MLB career. He does have two double-digit stolen base seasons, but those happened back in 2015 and 2018.
