Kris Bubic O 5.5 strikeouts (+115)
Entering the 2025 season, the Royals were already stocked with multiple All-Stars in their rotation. It’s early, but they may have found another in Kris Bubic. The left-hander impressed out of the bullpen last season, making his return from a season-ending injury in 2023. Now, after two starts, he’s already become one of Kansas City’s best pitchers. Over 12.2 innings, the 27-year-old hasn’t allowed a run while striking out 16 batters.
Tonight’s opponent, the Guardians, had the fourth-fewest strikeouts in baseball last year. However, Cleveland only ranks 17th in Ks against lefties this season. Expecting eight or more whiffs per game from Bubic is wishful thinking. With that being said, the sixth-year pro has clearly turned a corner in his career. Six punch outs against a top-heavy lineup feels like a reasonable line…especially at plus money.
Taj Bradley O 4.5 hits (-115)
On a Tampa Bay pitching staff loaded with talent, Taj Bradley is an enigma. The 24-year-old has terrific stuff, but consistency has been difficult to come by during his brief major league career. The same can be said for the Braves’ lineup this year; despite rostering a boatload of All-Stars, Atlanta has stumbled into a 3-9 record. Something has to give tonight in this battle between an erratic arm and underperforming offense.
The Braves enter Friday with momentum, having recorded at least nine hits in four of their last five games. Bradley has a mediocre ERA of 4.91, but he’s allowed just seven hits over 11.0 frames. However, the 24-year-old coughed up at least five hits in 14 of his 25 appearances last season. Against hitters of this caliber, clean innings might be hard to come by.
Ronel Blanco O 16.5 outs (-110)
Ronel Blanco was one of the biggest pitching surprises of 2024, recording a career-best 2.80 ERA with the Astros. The 31-year-old hasn’t been able to replicate his success thus far, getting shelled for seven runs over two starts. Tonight, he’ll look to turn things around against a surprisingly potent Angels offense. Through 12 games, Los Angeles has scored the fifth-most runs per game in baseball (5.42).
As good as the Halos have looked, this is a matchup Blanco has thrived in before. Last year, the righty held LA to two total runs over 12.0 innings. For the season, he averaged close to 5.2 innings per game against all opponents. As long as Blanco is pitching well, Houston should have no issue letting him go deep in this one.
