After a thrilling Thursday to get the 89th Masters Tournament off to an exciting start, Friday brings us the second round of action from Augusta National Golf Club. Throughout the day, we’ll provide live updates on the Masters cut line, as well as who is positioning themselves in contention to claim the first major championship of the season. Check back throughout the day on Friday for all the latest live updates on the projected cut and who will play the weekend.

Here’s the latest:

Masters Cut Line Settling At +2 (5:00 PM)

It’s been great to spend this Friday watching Round 2 with you, and I’ll be back with live blogs for Round 3 and Round 4, so be sure to check back on Saturday and Sunday for more awesome action and updates.

As we reach 5:00 p.m. ET, there is a 96.5% chance that the cut will be at +2, according to data golf with a 3.5% chance that it drops to +3. Danny Willett, J.T. Poston, and Keegan Bradley are all at +2 and still on the course. If they finish at that number they’ll likely make the weekend, but the closing holes have been the hardest on the course all day.

Fred Couples and Tony Finau are at +3 looking for a birdie to get under the cut, while Robert Macintyre and Cameron Smith are at +4 and need a hot finish to get to the weekend.

Scottie Scheffler And Tyrell Hatton Make The Turn T3 (4:23 PM)

While there had been plenty of excitement around the Masters cut line, the top of the leaderboard has been fairly settled most of the day. Justin Rose still holds the lead at -8 with Bryson DeChambeau one stroke back in solo second.

A few players on the course are making a little bit of a move, though, with Scottie Scheffler and Tyrell Hatton tying Rory McIlroy for third place as they made the turn to the second nine, which has been much more difficult so far today. Scheffler started the back nine with a bogey to drop back to T6 while Corey Conners moved up to T3 with five holes remaining in his round.

Jason Day joins Scheffler at T6, while no other player on the course is in the top 10.–Zach Thompson

Sepp Straka Slips Up And Falls Below The Masters Cut Line (4:13 PM)

Sepp Straka had the fourth-highest ownership of all players in the $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire at 21.17%. He started the day at +6 after a rough Round 1. He was locked in for Round 2 and had battled back with a -5 through 16 holes on Friday to get inside the expected cut line. However, he fell apart with a bogey on No. 17 and a triple-bogey on No. 18 and will not play this weekend.

According to data golf, there is a 97% chance that the cut will be at +2. Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay, J.J. Spaun and Akshay Bhatia would be just inside that cut line. Keegan Bradley and Tony Finau are just inside that line with 10 holes remaining, while Cameron Smith and Byeong Hun An are still on the course at +3 and need a birdie to get under the Masters cut line. –Zach Thompson

Jan Rahm Ready To Roll After -1 (3:50 PM)

The 2023 Masters champion, Jon Rahm had some work to do on Friday to make the cut after a +3 on Thursday. He was eight-for-eight making the cut in his career at Augusta and will keep that streak alive after a round of 17 pars and one birdie moved him to +2 and likely just inside the Masters cut line. Data golf gives the cut line a 96.5% to fall at +2.

Akshay Bhatia finished with back-to-back bogeys but still finished at +2 while Robert Macintyre and Tony Finau are still on the course at +3 trying to move under the likely cut line as they finish their rounds. –Zach Thompson

Rory McIlroy Rebounds From Rough Finish With Round Of The Day (3:30 PM)

McIlroy was -4 with four holes remaining in Round 1 before a pair of double-bogeys dropped him back to even par. That could have been the end of his week, but the 35-year-old from Northern Ireland bounced back incredibly in Round 2 with a -6 that was the low round of the day when he finished it up with three straight pars.

He moved to -6 for the tournament as well which was good enough for a solo third-place spot when he closed out his day. Justin Rose still holds the lead at -8 for the tournament with Bryson DeChambeau at -7 as he plays his final hole of the day.

While Friday’s focus is often on players playing their way out of the tournament and missing the cut (see Koepka, Brooks), Rory put himself squarely in the mix at the half-way point of the 2025 Masters Tournament. –Zach Thompson

Masters Cut Line Firming Up at +2 (3:17 PM)

The top of the leaderboard hasn’t changed much with Bryson DeChambeau dropping a shot on No. 16 but getting it right back at no. 17 to stay one back of Justin Rose. Bryson and Rory McIlroy are finishing up their round Viktor Hovland lost a little momentum with a bogey-bogey finish after his four straight birdies.

A very significant development lower on the leaderboard, though, is that the cut line is settling in at +2. After bouncing around throughout the day, there is now a 90.4% chance that the cut will +2, according to data golf.

A +2 cutline would leave Patrick Cantlay and J.J. Spaun inside the cut and playing for the weekend with Dustin Johnson and Russell Henley on the outside looking in. –Zach Thompson

Brooksie Goes Bust-Masters Cut Line Update (3:05 PM)

While there is still no certainty about exactly where the Masters cut line will land, we’re starting to get a list of players who can make other plans for the weekend. According to data golf, there is a 87.6% chance that the cut will be +2, leaving names like Patrick Cantlay, Denny McCarthy and JJ Spaun just inside the line with Dustin Johnson and Russell Henley likely coming up just short.

There are some players who are well beyond that line, though, including Brooks Koepka, who was a boom-or-bust fantasy play this week. He has a good history at Augusta and looked ready to make the cut at -1 for the day and +1 for the tournament headed to no. 18. Unfortunately for Koepka and his fantasy players, he went bust on the final hole, finishing with a snowman that earned him a quad-bogey and a final score of +3 for the round and +5 for the tournament.

Other notable names that are done for the day at +4 or higher and headed home barring a miracle include Lucas Glover, Sergio Garcia, Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Adam Scott, who had made the cut in each of the past 15 years at Augusta National. –Zach Thompson

Big Names Climbing Leaderboard (2:31 PM)

While Justin Rose still holds the lead in the clubhouse, there are plenty of roars on the course at Augusta National Golf Club. Bryson DeChambeau remains in solo second, but Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland are now just one stroke behind him in a tie for third.

Hovland made four straight birdies to get to -5 for the day and -6 for the tournament with two holes remaining in his round. Rory still has three holes left after adding a birdie on No. 15 to play the first six holes on the back nine at -5.

Meanwhile at the start of the course, defending champ Scottie Scheffler has one birdie and three pars through his first four holes and is T5 one stroke behind Rory and Vik’s tie for third. –Zach Thompson

Max Homa Set to Stick Around For The Weekend (2:25 PM)

While the Masters cut line continues to bounce between +1 and +2, a few big-name early golfers decided not to leave anything to chance. Max Homa made three birdies and 14 pars after an opening bogey and moved from +2 to even par for the tournament, currently T32.

Nick Taylor is also in the clubhouse at even par after a -1 in Round 2, and Tom Hoge sits at even par as well after a second straight round of 72 on Friday. Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is at -1 and done for the day, so he’ll be around this weekend as well.

At +2 and done for the day, Charl Schwartzel, Denny McCarthy and JJ Spaun are likely under the cut line has well, but they’ll have to wait it out to make sure it doesn’t move to +1. Russell Henley is also at +2 after a furious charge to get to -5 on the day as he plays his final hole.

Among the popular fantasy names at +3 are Dustin Johnson, who is finished with his round, Patrick Cantlay, Sepp Straka, Tony Finau and Robert Macintyre. –Zach Thompson

Justin Rose Still Smelling Sweet (2:07 PM)

Justin Rose is owned in just 4.89% of entries in DraftKings $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire, but he’s still out front at the Masters after finishing up a solid Round 2. He didn’t come close to matching yesterday’s -7 but shot a very solid -1 with four birdies and three bogeys.

As he finished his par on No. 18, he held a one-stroke advantage over Bryson DeChambeau with Matt McCarty, Sungjae Im, Rory McIlroy, Corey Conners and Scottie Scheffler all two strokes further back at -5 with plenty of golf still remaining on Friday. –Zach Thompson

Rory Roaring Back (1:53 PM)

Rory McIlroy has caught fire to start the back nine starting 3-3-3-3 on his first four holes after making the turn. The birdie-birdie-par-eagle was punctuated by this impressive shot out of the pine straw.

That eagle moved him to -5 on the day and -5 for the tournament which right now is good enough for T4, three strokes back of leader Justin Rose, who is playing his final hole of the day. If it wasn’t for his two double-bogeys at the end of yesterday’s round, Rory would be ahead of Rose at this point. He still has a long way to go today, though, including both holes where he had trouble in Round 1. –Zach Thompson

Masters Cut Line Update (1:48 PM)

While Justin Rose comes to the finish of his Round 2 and the leaderboard continues to shift, let’s look further down the board and check the latest happenings around the cut line. Right now, 60 players are at +2 or better and would make the cut at this point. According to data golf, there’s a 58.1% chance that the cut lands there with a 31.7% chance that it moves back to +3.

Right now, LIV Golf stars Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm would be just inside the cut along with U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley. Denny McCarthy and Charl Schwartzel are in the clubhouse at +2 with J.J. Spaun also on that number as he plays No. 18.

Just outside the cut at +3 for the tournament is Russell Henley, who is -4 on the day and making a late charge to play the weekend. Sergio Garcia, Wyndham Clark, Adam Scott and Robert Macintyre are all at +4 right now with work to do to make the weekend. –Zach Thompson

Rory McIlroy Climbing Back Into Contention (1:30 PM)

Rory stumbled down the stretch on Thursday and finished at just even par. The part of the course that gave him trouble in Round 1 has played very difficult on Friday as well and still lies ahead, but McIlroy is swinging it well again on Friday.

He made the turn at -1 and dropped back-to-back birdies to start the back nine, moving into the top 10.

Another big name just teed off, so get ready for plenty of Scottie Scheffler coverage as he tries to defend his green jacket from last year. –Zach Thompson

Matt McCarty Takes Clubhouse Lead With Low Round Of The Day (1:24)

Matt McCarty started the day at -1 and came out of the gate with a double-bogey, bogey start. However, the 27-year-old Masters rookie turned things around after that, dropping eight birdies during the rest of his round, including four straight to close out the front nine. He gave a shot back on No. 18, which continues to play extremely difficult.

McCarty climbed all the way to T4 when he wrapped up his round of -4 to move to -5 for the tournament, which was two strokes off the lead of Justin Rose, who was at -8 with three holes to play.

Sungjae Im is still on the course with a -5 that is better than McCarty’s, but given how difficult the closing holes have played, McCarty’s round has a good shot to stand up as the low round of the day for a while. –Zach Thompson

Back Nine Not Messing Around (1:11 PM)

Don’t be alarmed by the lower scores early in many players’ rounds on Friday. Augusta National has plenty of teeth coming home. So far, the front nine is playing -0.32 under par, but the back nine is playing +2.08 over par. Seven of the final eight holes are all over par with the par 5 No. 13 the only exception.

One of the latest player to lose strokes in that section of the course was leader Justin Rose, who picked up his second bogey of the day with a five on No. 14. He still holds a one-stroke lead over Bryson DeChambeau with Matt McCarty and Sungjae Im who are two strokes off the lead at -6.

Overall, the course is playing +1.48 over par and data golf still projects the cut to land at +3 (53.0%). Right now, 59 golfers would make the cut +2, but we still have a long way to go before anything is set in stone regarding the Masters cut line. –Zach Thompson

Brian Campbell In Good Shape (1:01 PM)

Of the first three groups to finish Round 2, the only one that looks in a strong position up to make the cut is Brian Campbell who finished even-par in Round 1 with a +1 in Round 2. In his Masters debut, the breakthrough winner at the Mexico Open looks ready to make the weekend and be a solid leverage play for the 0.5% of entries that played him in the $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire.

Bryson Leads Surging Chase Group; Rose Rolling Fine (12:48 PM)

While overnight leader Justin Rose has been very solid with three birdies through 13 holes and a -2 score for the day taking him to -9 for the tournament, there’s a hungry chase pack trying to close in.

Bryson DeChambeu birdied No. 8 to move to -4 for the day and move to within two strokes of Rose at -7 for the tournament. Just behind him, Matt McCarty and Sugjae Im are also at -4 for the day and -5 for the tournament in a tie for third place.

Some big names a little further back putting together solid rounds include Shane Lowry, who moved into the top 10, Xander Schauffele, who is in the top 15 now, and Rory McIlroy who rebounded from Round 1’s tough finish with a -1 on his opening nine. –Zach Thompson

Matt McCarty On The Move; First Groups Complete Round 2 (12:30 PM)

One of the early names ascending the leaderboard on Friday is Masters’ rooke Matt McCarty.

Sungjae Im is -4 for the day and has moved into third place at -5. Meanwhile, overnight leader Justin Rose moved back to three shots ahead of Bryson DeChambeau with a birdie on No. 12.

The Masters cut line continues to bounce around as groups hit holes of different difficulty and scores jump around. We do have three players in the clubhouse, though, who have made it through all 18 holes at Augusta on Friday.

The first three players to complete the round were Rafael Campos, Austin Eckroat and Cameron Davis. Of the three, Campos has the best shot of playing the weekend. He started the day at +3 and finished +1 on Friday. Right now, data golf has the cutline likely to move to +3 at 49.8% with a 15.5% chance that it will move to +4 meaning Campos would make the cut. Campos had what will be the first of many tense moments over a putt on No. 18 today, needing a 10-foot par saver to stay at +3. He missed it though to bogey and fall to +4, likely on the outside looking in, but we’ll have to see where scores fall as the day goes on.

His playing partners didn’t fare so well. Davis started the day near the cut line at +2 but shot a +7 to drop to +9 for the tournament. Eckroat shot a +2 to drop to +6 for the tournament. —Zach Thompson

Bryson Closes To Within Two; Masters Cut Line moves (12:00 PM)

Bryson DeChambeau became the first golfer to birdie hole No. 5 in Round 2, improving to -3 on the day and -6 on the day, within two strokes of leader Justin Rose. He’s alone in second place, while Ludvig Aberg drops back into a tie with Corey Conners and Scottie Scheffler after a bogey on No. 6.

The projected Masters cut line also moved to +2 as expected with 58 players currently at +2 or better. Datagolf currently has a 30% chance of a +2 cutline but a stronger 49.4% chance of it landing at +3. On such a star-studded leaderboard there are plenty of big names on both sides of the cut line but JJ Spaun (+2) and Patrick Cantlay (+2) are two of the bigger names that move under the cut line at least for now with their rounds of -1 so far on Friday. –Zach Thompson

Bryson From The Beach (11:30 AM)

Bryson DeChambeau is one of the early names climbing the leaderboard after chipping in for birdie on No. 4. He moved to -2 in Round 2 and -5 for the tournament, tying him with Ludvig Aberg for second place.

Meanwhile, leader Justin Rose is at -1 for the day and -8 for the tournament as he makes the turn. –Zach Thompson

Justin Rose Keeps Rolling Early; Masters Cut Line Early Outlook (11:24 AM)

Every Friday of a golf tournament, there are two key things to watch–one is obviously the top of the leaderboard. To start the day, Justin Rose held a three-stroke lead over Ludvig Aberg, Corey Conners, and defending champion Scottie Scheffler.

Rose got a birdie out of the bunker on No. 2 but gave that shot back with a bogey at No. 5. He got back under par with another birdie on the par-5 eighth. His -1 through eight holes maintained his three-stroke lead over Aberg, who was also -1 through four holes.

The biggest mover on the early leaderboard early is Rasmus Hojgaard, who is -3 through six holes and has surged into the top 10.

The other big thing to watch is the cut line. For the Masters, the top 50 and ties make the cut. Since the course played about +1.5 yesterday, the cut will likely land at +2 or +3 with +4 a possibility as well if the course plays tougher today.

The current projected cutline sits at +2 with exactly 50 players at +1 or better. However, it’s unlikely to stay at that spot since early Round 2 scores for the field are already +1.1 over par.

In the $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire, the fourth-highest ownership in the contest went to Sepp Straka at 21.2% ownership. He’s currently -1 for the day but still has work to do since he is +5 for the tournament. Other popular options who need to make progress include Robert Macintyre (+3), Jon Rahm (+3) and Sergio Garcia (+3).
