Pablo Lopez injury update: Placed on 15-day IL with hamstring injury

On Wednesday night, the Minnesota Twins placed starting pitcher Pablo López on the 15-day injured list with a hamstring injury. Manager Rocco Baldelli announced that an MRI confirmed a mild hamstring strain.

López’s last pitch in Tuesday’s contest came after grabbing at the hamstring during the fifth inning. He was pulled from the contest after. The injured list news means López will miss at least two turns in the rotation.

It’s an unfortunate setback for both the Twins and López. Minnesota sits at 4-8 after losing two of three to the division rival Kansas City Royals and will have to make do without their ace. Top prospect Zebby Matthews may receive a call to fill the void. López, meanwhile, was off to a great start on the mound, with only three earned runs allowed in 16 2/3 innings.
