Malik Monk injury update: Kings guard to miss multiple weeks

Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, Kings guard Malik Monk will be re-evaluated in two weeks with a left calf strain. This will keep Monk out for the rest of the regular season and the Play-In Tournament.

Monk, 27, exited Monday’s game after playing six minutes and did not return. Now, the Kings will have to find a way to stay alive in the postseason without their fourth-leading scorer.

At 39-40, Sacramento effectively holds a two-game lead over the Dallas Mavericks for the ninth seed by owning the tiebreaker. Another win tonight all but locks up home-court advantage for the 9/10 play-in matchup. Still, this casts a pall over what has already been a difficult season. Even if Sacramento finds a way through the play-in, they’d have to face the buzzsaw Oklahoma City Thunder, presumably without Monk for the majority of the series.
