The PGA TOUR has reached the first major championship of the season as the eyes of the golf world turn back to Augusta National for this week’s 89th Masters Tournament. The course and the history are literally the stuff of legends, and it’s one of the best weeks on the golf calendar each year. While there are many ways to get in on the action on DraftKings Sportsbook, some of this week’s golf best bets come from the 3-ball tournament matchups
If you’re just arriving at the tee for our tournament 3-ball picks, let’s quickly review the format. In the tournament groups section of the Masters page, there are eight Tournament Trios. Each group is made up of three players with similar odds to win the event. You don’t have to select the green jacket winner, though, this is just a three-way race between the three golfers in the trio. I find 3-balls to offer a perfect balance between risk and reward — rather than picking the winner from the full field, you just have to select the top player from the group of three.
Last week, my golf best bets from 3-balls for the Valero Texas Open went a perfect three-for-three as Corey Conners, J.T. Poston and Keith Mitchell each emerged victorious from their trio.
Looking at this week’s tournament 3-balls, here are my three golf best bets:
Min Woo Lee (+160)
Min Woo Lee comes to Augusta fresh off his first PGA TOUR win at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. In this trio, he’s up against a pair of international LIV Golf players in Cameron Smith (+175) and Sergio Garcia (+180). Even though he’s the favorite, it’s still a good enough number that he makes it into my golf best bets for this week.
I highlighted Lee in my best pivot picks of the week, and I love his upside and his recent form. He has five top-20 finishes in his seven events on the PGA TOUR in 2025 and already has two top-25 finishes in his three career appearances at Augusta.
Smith has been playing well in LIV Golf with three top-20 finishes in his last three events, culminating in a T9 at LIV Golf Miami. However, he ranks second-to-last in driving accuracy (46%) and 49th in GIR (65%). He has a very strong history at Augusta but his shaky recent form is enough to make me give the slight edge to Lee after his impressive showing last week.
The other option here feels like a throwaway since Sergio has missed the cut in five of his last six trips to Augusta. However, he has had a strong start to 2025 for his Fireballs on LIV Golf. he won the LIV Golf Hong Kong event and finished solo third at the LIV Golf Miami tournament last week. He’s trying to play his way into contention for a Ryder Cup spot, so he isn’t as easy to pick against as it initially appears.
Even though Smith and Sergio are no pushovers, I’ll still take the youth of Min Woo Lee, who comes in hot enough to get my pick in this tournament trio.
Jason Day (+165)
Day is in a good veteran group with Tony Finau (+170) and Wyndham Clark (+180). Day has the strongest recent form and a good course history as well, so he gets the nod in my golf best bets this week.
So far this season, Day has made the cut in all 10 of his events with four top-10 finishes, including at the Arnold Palmer Invitational just over a month ago. He also placed T27 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open that Min Woo Lee won two weeks ago.
At Augusta, Day has made the cut in 10 of 13 appearances with seven top-25 finishes, four top-10 finishes, and three top-five finishes. His best finish was as runner-up all the way back in 2011. He did make the cut in each of the last two years though, and his recent form should help him continue his track record of success.
Finau has made the cut in all seven of his trips to Augusta National with three top-10 finishes but has finished outside the top 25 in each of the last three years. He also comes in with sketchy recent form with a missed cut at TPC Sawgrass and three finishes outside the top-30 since a T5 at The Genesis.
The third member of the trio is the enigmatic Wyndham Clark. He’s coming off a T5 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, but missed the cut at TPC Sawgrass and was up and down throughout the early part of the season. He has only played the Masters once in his career and missed the cut last season. Aside from his win at the U.S. Open in 2023, Clark has missed the cut or finished outside the top-50 in all but one of his major championship appearances.
Brooks Koepka (+180)
I usually like to take a long shot for the third option in my golf best bets from the tournament trios, and this week I’m backing Brooks. Koepka is in a trio with Hideki Matsuyama (+145) and Ludvig Aberg (+180).
Matsuyama has a great history at Augusta and a high ceiling, but he has missed the cut in his last two events. He lost nearly 3.5 strokes in two rounds with his putter at TPC San Antonio last week and also struggled at TPC Sawgrass. Since winning The Sentry with a record-setting week to start the year, Matsuyama’s results have been solid but not spectacular before dropping off in his last two events. He’s the favorite in this trio on the strength of his course history.
Aberg has a much shorter course history since he has only played the Masters once in his career. He not only made the cut last year, but he ended up finishing solo-second behind Scheffler. He also showed his high ceiling with his win at The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines against an elite field like the one he’ll face this wek. However, Aberg also comes in with rough recent form. He missed the cut by two strokes at TPC San Antonio and comes into this week having lost strokes on approach in three of his last five starts.
Koepka has finished in the top-20 in three of his last four events with LIV Golf. He finished solo second at LIV Golf Singapore and also in the top-10 at LIV Golf Adelaide. He has a great history at major championships overall with five major wins and 25 career top-25 finishes in his 42 career appearances at a major. At the Masters, he has five top-25 finishes in his nine starts including three top-10 finishes in the last six years. He finished runner-up in 2023, four shots behind fellow LIV star Jon Rahm ($10,400).
Since he has stronger form and such a good track record at Augusta, I’ll take Koepka at big-time plus-money as one of my golf best bets to get the win this week in this trio.
