Shockingly, it doesn’t seem like the frigid weather in the northeast is going to cause any postponements this evening, so we’re set to roll with a nine-game featured MLB slate on DraftKings.

1. Chicago Cubs
OF Kyle Tucker ($6,400)

I truly don’t know how many more chances we’re all going to have to stack against Patrick Corbin ($6,400), so let’s make like an anthemic club song and not waste tonight. The Nationals might finally be free of the left-hander’s contract, but Corbin was scooped up by the Rangers in the offseason and now the 35-year-old will make his first start of 2025 on Tuesday. Considering Corbin owns a league-worst 5.71 ERA since the beginning of 2021, I don’t have high hopes.
Meanwhile, the Cubs’ lineup is firing on all cylinders at the moment. Not only is Chicago in possession of a 124 wRC+ entering play this evening, but it leads baseball with 21 steals, showcasing the diverse number of ways this roster can rack up runs. Against LHPs specifically, the Cubs are slashing .248/.359/.459 with a .211 ISO. Seiya Suzuki has mostly led the charge within the split, which makes sense, given his career .286 average and 138 wRC+ versus southpaws. I’d also keep a close eye on Justin Turner. The 40-year-old hasn’t done much in 2025, yet he’s continued to hit in the clean-up spot for Chicago when the team draws a left-handed opponent. On that note, all three of Turner’s hits this season have come off a lefty.
2. Milwaukee Brewers

Kyle Freeland ($5,000) has looked fantastic to begin 2025, yet it seems important that the left-hander has yet to step on the mound at Coors Field. All that changes on Tuesday. Dating back to 2023, Freeland has made 26 starts at home for the Rockies. In those 26 outings, Freeland owns a 4.74 ERA and a 4.68 FIP, while opponents have combined to hit 1.51 home runs per nine and maintain a .346 wOBA. There’s no deeper meaning here. No need for super advanced metrics. Freeland is simply a contact-oriented pitcher asked to throw in the altitude. That’s a recipe for disaster.
Milwaukee’s lineups has underwhelmed in the early going of the season — no one more so than William Contreras. The backstop is slashing just .097/.263/.097 without an extra-base knock in his first 38 plate appearances. That ends tonight. Contreras has crushed left-handed pitching throughout his career, and that includes 2024, when the All-Star hit .313 with an .888 OPS within the split. That also includes the lone home run this Milwaukee roster has off Freeland. Look for Contreras and the Brewers to break out on this slate.
3. Tampa Bay Rays

The aforementioned Corbin will draw the washed headlines tonight, but don’t sleep on Kyle Hendricks ($6,600). Following a 5.92 ERA in 2024, the veteran was signed by the Angels to mop up innings. Hendricks mostly survived his first start with Los Angeles, allowing just two earned runs across six innings of work, yet the underlying data paints a slightly more morbid picture. Hendricks surrendered seven hits in that tilt, yet escaped jam after jam thanks to an outlandish 89.3% strand rate. For context, the contact-oriented Hendricks has finished the past two seasons with a strand rate below 70%. If he keep giving up hits — which he will — the runs will soon come in bunches.
Aside from a matchup with Hendricks, a potential Rays stack has value working in its favor. Only one Tampa Bay asset will cost you more than $4,100 on this slate and there’s a few amazing bargain options on the board in Jonathan Aranda and Kameron Misner. In 28 plate appearances as a platoon bat, Aranda has managed a massive .428 expected wOBA so far in 2025. Meanwhile, Misner is another lefty bat to throw at Hendricks. The rookie is slashing .375/.360/.625 with a 174 wRC+ in his first 25 PAs. Misner also swiped 83 bases in the minors the past three years, so his ability to score FPTS doesn’t end when he steps out of the batter’s box.
