NBA Value Pick: Start KJ Simpson in DFS if Miles Bridges sits vs. the Grizzlies

Miles Bridges ($9,100, hip) has been downgraded to questionable ahead of Tuesday’s matchup with the Grizzlies.

Below, I break down my favorite value play from the Hornets if Bridges is out.

PG, KJ Simpson, Charlotte Hornets vs. Memphis Grizzlies, $5,400

If Bridges sits tonight, the Hornets will be very shorthanded, as LaMelo Ball (ankle), Brandon Miller (wrist), Josh Green (shoulder,) and Damion Baugh (hip) are all already ruled out. Starting alongside Bridges recently, Simpson has been solid. He will see a significant boost if Bridges is absent tonight.

Simpson is averaging 27.2 FPTS in 31 minutes per game since joining the Hornets’ starting lineup six games ago. With Bridges, Ball, Miller, Green, and Baugh off the court this season, Simpson is amassing 0.9 FPTS per minute. With those five key players off the floor, Simpson’s usage rate rises 1.5 percentage points to 20.7% and his assist percentage increases 5.5 percentage points to 26.6%.

Simpson would be in line for 35-40 minutes of work if Bridges is out. In this is a terrific matchup vs. the Grizzlies, Simpson would have a ceiling near 40 FPTS. Since the All-Star break, Memphis ranks second in pace and 18th in defensive rating.
