All 30 teams are in action on Tuesday, which means nearly unlimited MLB betting options on the DraftKings Sportsbook.
With so much to choose from, allow me to narrow the scope. Here are a couple of my favorite bets on the diamond for this evening’s slate.
Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox
Red Sox -1.5 (+110)
It didn’t take long for Garrett Crochet to justify his recent contract extension. The left-hander was masterful in his last outing, throwing eight scoreless innings against the Orioles in what eventually became a 3-0 win for the Red Sox. I could see a very similar script playing out on Tuesday evening at Fenway.
Crochet has followed up his breakout campaign with a pair of strong outings to begin 2025. Across 13.0 innings, the left-hander owns a 1.38 ERA and a 1.92 FIP. He’s also yet to allow a home run this season. Crochet is exceedingly difficult to score on for any team, but that might be especially true when it comes to the Blue Jays, who have taken the term “station-to-station” offense to a whole new level through two weeks. Toronto has a league-low five home runs in 11 games. It only has five stolen bases, too. While it’s .106 ISO is the third-worst mark in MLB. The Jays have relied on sequencing three or four hits in a single inning to score runs. That’s a tough way to live against an elite strikeout pitcher with a career batting average against of just .216.
On the other side of this matchup, I doubt Boston’s bats will be kept quiet for a second straight night. The Red Sox will square off with Easton Lucas, a 28-year-old journeyman southpaw, who sports a career 7.71 ERA at the MLB level. It’s a small sample, but Boston is batting .316 with a 137 wRC+ against LHPs in 2025.
Texas Rangers at Chicago Cubs
First 5: Over 4.5 (-105)
Happy Patrick Corbin Day to those who celebrate!
It was a little unclear following 2024 if we’d ever see the veteran southpaw pitch at the MLB level ever again, but Corbin latched onto the Rangers in the offseason and it didn’t take long for the club to call-up the former World Series hero. This isn’t to suggest that Corbin no longer has any value. The LHP has stayed healthy in his later years, ranking 15th in innings thrown since the beginning of 2021 (679.0). However, whether those frames are empty calories is up for debate. In that same span, among qualified arms, Corbin’s 5.71 ERA is the highest mark in baseball. Corbin’s 1.62 HR/9 is up towards the highest figures, as well. The Cubs’ bats are red-hot. Chicago comes into Tuesday sitting fifth in wRC+ (124) and leading the league in stolen bases (21). This is a lineup that can hurt you in so many ways, and I expect they’ll have little issue getting to Corbin early.
They might need some crooked numbers to hang in this contest, because it’s not like Jameson Taillon has looked all that great in his first two starts of 2025. The RHP has surrendered three home runs in just 10.1 innings, which equates out to an inflated 6.97 ERA and 6.17 FIP. Texas has not been hitting well to start the season — the team’s 66 wRC+ is the worst in all of baseball — but Taillon could be the cure to those offensive woes.
