It’s been an injury-riddled day for the Padres as Fernando Tatis Jr. exits Tuesday’s game against the Athletics. He left the game in the fifth inning with an apparent injury.
There isn’t word of what the injury is or how severe it is, but it’s notable that the 26-year-old left the game. Jason Heyward replaced Tatis in right field as the Padres trailed the Athletics 9-4 in the fifth inning.
This is the third key injury for San Diego today. Jake Cronenworth left the game earlier after suffering an injury while swinging. The Padres also placed Jackson Merrill on the injury reserve earlier today.
San Diego has gotten off to a hot start, owning a 9-2 record heading into Tuesday’s matchup. The Padres could take a big hit, however, if they lose one or two of the aforementioned players for an extended period.
