Ten games between 20 teams are set to tip off on Tuesday across the NBA. Among the matchups to watch, Eastern Conference contenders meet at MSG when the Knicks host the Celtics. Elsewhere, LeBron James’ Lakers meet Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder for the second time in three days. Aaron Nesmith more than 13.5 points
Only a few games are left in the regular season. At this point, it’s Pick6 tradition to target someone, literally anyone, playing the Wizards. Tonight, that honor is bestowed to none other than Aaron Nesmith. Indiana’s two-way pest has emerged as a reliable offensive contributor over the past few months. Since returning from an ankle sprain in January, the wing has posted 12.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
The Pacers could be without Pascal Siakam (elbow) tonight; he’s currently listed as questionable. With or without the forward, Nesmith is in prime position to deliver as a scorer. This season, the Wizards have allowed the most points (122.4) and fourth-most three-pointers made (14.4) per game to opponents. When these teams met last month, Nesmith only scored 11 points, but played just 19 minutes. In the five games since, he’s logged an average of 26.6 minutes. Armed with a bigger workload tonight, the 25-year-old should take advantage of basketball’s worst defense.
Jarrett Allen less than 15.5 points
There’s not much left for the 62-16 Cavaliers to play for; the team has nearly locked up the Eastern Conference’s top seed. As a result, Cleveland has begun to manage the workload for some of its biggest names, including Jarrett Allen. The center’s goal is to suit up for all 82 games this season, but he’s unlikely to handle his normal workload. This was seen against the Spurs on Friday, in which Allen played 16 minutes in the first half before exiting the game.
It’s worth nothing that Allen logged 31 minutes on Sunday vs. Orlando, so it’s difficult to determine how long he’ll play tonight. Still, there’s little upside to giving the big man another long outing on Tuesday. The Bulls are awful down low, allowing the most points in the paint per game (54.4). Regardless, Allen has gone over 15 points in only three of his last six appearances. Even a modest workload restriction would make this total difficult to reach for the offensively-limited center.
Zach Edey more than 10.5 rebounds
The Grizzlies stunned the basketball world by firing head coach Taylor Jenkins with mere weeks before the postseason. One of the biggest beneficiaries of the move has been Zach Edey. Memphis’ rookie center had impressed this year, but his minutes remained fairly inconsistent. Under interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo, the center has played at least 27 minutes in four of his previous five games.
Given his recent workload, it’s no surprise that Edey has dominated the glass. The big man has recorded at least 11 rebounds in four of his last five games, including 21 boards on Saturday vs. Detroit. The Canadian will look to carry that momentum into tonight’s matchup with the Hornets. Opponents have grabbed 53.2 rebounds per game vs. Charlotte, the seventh-worst mark in the association. Memphis’ 7’4 phenom should have little trouble getting to this total in less than 30 minutes.
Mikal Bridges more than 1.5 three-pointers made
Jalen Brunson made his much-anticipated return from an ankle injury on Sunday. It was the guard’s first appearance in nearly a month, during which time the Knicks went 9-6. In that stretch, Mikal Bridges stepped up as a primary scorer for New York. Over his last ten games, the wing has averaged 19.9 points on 51.9% shooting from the field.
The ‘Bockers will face a stiff test on Tuesday against the Celtics. Boston has held opponents to the seventh-fewest points per game this season (108.9), including 34.6% shooting from three-point range. However, Bridges has been on fire from beyond the arc recently. The 28-year-old has knocked down two or more long-distance shots in seven of his previous nine outings. In this marquee matchup, look for New York’s third option to continue his string of success as a shooter.
Jrue Holiday more than 1.5 three-pointers made
Let’s stay in the Big Apple, where Boston will look to sweep the Knicks in their season series. It’s been a rocky 2024-25 campaign for Jrue Holiday. The two-way guard’s success isn’t measured in counting stats, but he’s been less productive across the board this season. Through 60 games, the two-time All-Star has produced 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 44.4% shooting.
In spit of Holiday’s statistical decline, he can still burn opposing defenses. That’s especially true from beyond the arc; Jrue has knocked down at least two three-pointers in four of his last five games. The guard’s shooting success could continue on Tuesday against a Knicks group that struggles to defend the perimeter. Teams are shooting 36.7% from three-point range vs. New York, tied for the fifth-worst mark in basketball. Look for Boston’s savvy veteran to make an impact from long-distance tonight.
Brandin Podziemski more than 3.5 assists
No team has turned its season around like the Warriors, winners in 18 of their last 23 games post-All-Star break. Several factors are behind Golden State’s comeback, including lights-out shooting from Stephen Curry and February’s Jimmy Butler trade. However, Brandin Podziemski’s improved play deserves mention as well. Since March 1st, the second-year pro has posted 16.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
On a squad that lacks secondary playmakers, Podziemski serves a crucial role. The guard has stepped up as a passer, notching at least four assists in four of his previous five outings. Tonight, the Warriors will face a Suns team in disarray. Opponents have recorded 27.2 assists per game vs. Phoenix this season, the tenth-worst mark in basketball. Golden State’s secret weapon is set up nicely to go beyond this modest total.
