In the ninth inning of Sunday’s game against the San Franciso Giants, Victor Robles made a spectacular catch at the wall. Unfortunately, in that section of the outfield, there is a wall about three feet high which creates an open triangle. Right when Robles caught the ball, he landed right on top of that small wall, causing him to lunge forward into that open triangle. His left arm hit the main wall right after while his body was going down, causing the shoulder injury.

On Monday, Robles was placed on the IL. The severity of the injury has not yet been determined, as further testing is being done.

Dominic Canzone will be called up while Miles Mastrobuoni and Dylan Moore would get some more time in the outfield.

It’s a tough blow for the Mariners, as Robles was batting leadoff and has 30 stolen base potential. In 46 plate appearances this season, Robles had three stolen bases while slashing .273/.283/.341.

Canzone is not a speed merchant, as he’s in the 42nd percentile for sprint speed. He does have some power, though, as the ISO was often over .200 in the minors. Canzone racked up 188 MLB plate appearances last season and slashed .196/.271/.381 with a 9.6% walk rate, 28.2% strikeout rate and .185 ISO.

Mastrobuoni has little speed and no power.

Moore has some pop with some speed. Last season, he stole 32 bases in 441 plate appearances. Throughout his MLB career, the ISO has been in the .160 to .220 range. In 22 plate appearances this season, he has two home runs and a stolen base while slashing .368/.455/.684. The walk rate is 13.6%, the strikeout rate is 18.2% and the ISO is .316. He has been lucky with a .385 BABIP.
