In the Western Conference, there are three teams still in contention for the final two Play-In Tournament places with just four games to play in the regular season. The Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks hold the upper hand over the Phoenix Suns, who are two and a half games behind the Mavericks.
Sacramento can all but sew up its Play-In berth tonight, as a win over the Detroit Pistons would see it move three and a half games ahead of Phoenix with three games to play in its season and four games in the Suns’. The two teams play each other on the final day of the season, and Phoenix would hold the tiebreaker if it wins, so the Kings won’t be entirely confirmed to be in the Play-In tonight.
Sacramento’s chances of advancing through the Play-In probably hinge largely on DeMar DeRozan, who’s averaging 22.3 points per game this season and making more than one three-pointer per game for the first time in his career.

DeMar DeRozan 6+ Assists (+145)
The Pistons’ remarkable turnaround has been one of the stories of the NBA season so far — they’re the first team in NBA history to more than triple their win total from the previous season — and their defense has been a primary driving catalyst of that. Since the start of 2025, Detroit is 29-17, with the third-best defensive rating in the league. Across that span, the Pistons have allowed the fourth-fewest assists per game despite playing at the league’s fourth-fastest pace.
DeRozan is predominantly known as a midrange ace, so his passing has become an underrated part of his game. He’s always been one of the league’s better wing playmakers, averaging 6.9 assists per game in 2020-21 as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, and while his playmaking responsibility has declined somewhat this season, he’s still willing and capable of finding his teammates. Though he’s only averaging 4.4 assists per game for the season, he has averaged 5.7 per game since De’Aaron Fox was traded to San Antonio on February 2. Since the deal, he’s hit the six-assist threshold in 16 of his 30 games, including in six of his last eight.
DeMar DeRozan U0.5 Steals (+120)
For all of Cade Cunningham’s growth — he has the second-shortest odds at DraftKings Sportsbook to win Most Improved Player — his turnover issues have been much-maligned. He’s the only player since 2000 with the dubious distinction of having double-digit turnovers in consecutive games, which occurred in a pair of back-to-back road wins near the end of January. But prior to the calf injury that cost him six games, he’d started to clean it up a little bit, coughing up the ball four or fewer times in five of his last six games before his absence. Then, in his first game back, he played only 27 minutes and turned it over just twice, and he’ll likely be on a minutes restriction again tonight.
Of course, Cunningham isn’t the only reason why the Pistons have allowed the sixth-most steals per game in the league this season, but he’s the main one — given that Detroit gave up the eighth-fewest during his absence — so if he’s not giving the ball up as much as usual, that leaves DeRozan with fewer opportunities for steals. With a heavy offensive load — among 52 players who have appeared in at least 300 minutes of their team’s last 10 games, DeRozan is 16th with a team-leading 25.9% usage rate — he isn’t focused on the defensive end, and he was never exactly a great defender to begin with. DeRozan has recorded zero steals in six of his last eight games.
