UPDATE 4/23/25: Snell felt discomfort in his left shoulder after playing catch on Tuesday. He has been shut down and will undergo further testing.
Snell is being placed on the 15-day IL with left shoulder inflammation. This move to the IL comes after Snell experienced some discomfort in his shoulder after a bullpen session Sunday morning. The pitcher has had an underwhelming start to his first season with the Dodgers, striking only four batters in his nine innings of work. In Snell’s most recent start this past Wednesday, the pitcher gave up five runs to the Braves.
With the Giants last season, Snell finished with a 5-3 record, a 3.12 ERA and 145 strikeouts in his 104.0 innings pitched. After this campaign, the two-time CY Young winner inked a massive five-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers this past offseason.
A timetable for Snell’s return has yet to be announced and this is poor timing, as the Dodgers are thin in their pitching rotation, with Tony Gonsolin (back) and Shohei Othani (elbow) also unavailable.
With Snell headed to the IL, Los Angeles has recalled Matt Sauer as a corresponding move.
