Four games between eight teams are set to tip off on Saturday night across the NBA. Among the matchups to watch, the struggling Grizzlies will visit the surprising Pistons in a battle of postseason-bound squads. Elsewhere, the new-look Mavericks hope to take down James Harden and the Clippers. Donte DiVincenzo more than 2.5 three-pointers made
After getting suspended for one game due to an altercation, Donte DiVincenzo looked rusty on Thursday. The guard shot just one-for-nine from the field, finishing the day with two points. As bad as that outing was, it doesn’t take away from DDV’s recent success. Since January 1st, the 28-year-old has averaged 13.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
On this Timberwolves roster, it’s difficult for most players to consistently play 30+ minutes. Still, DiVincenzo might not need much time to make an impact on Saturday. Minnesota has an enticing matchup on deck tonight when they visit the tanking 76ers. This season, Philadelphia has allowed the second-highest three-point percentage (38.0%) to opponents. A marksman such as DiVincenzo can quickly catch fire from deep against one of the NBA’s worst perimeter defenses.
Rudy Gobert more than 12.5 rebounds
It hasn’t been a banner year for Rudy Gobert in Minnesota. Coming into the season, some believed the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns would open up more room for the center down low. That hasn’t been the case; the big man has posted 11.5 points per game, his lowest mark in nearly a decade.
As previously mentioned, not much is going right for the 76ers. While rookie Adem Bona has shown flashes, it’s clear that this front court is missing Joel Embiid. This season, opponents have scored 50.3 points in the paint vs. Philadelphia, the eighth-worst mark in basketball. Gobert has scored at least 15 points in each of his last six outings. As long as things stay somewhat close tonight, the Frenchman should reach that total once again.
Jaren Jackson Jr. more than 5.5 rebounds
The Grizzlies have lost four of their last five games, headlined by Ja Morant’s finger-gun pointing shenanigans. If anything, the point guard’s latest controversy should make Memphis fans appreciate Jaren Jackson Jr. even more. The big man has enjoyed arguably the best season of his career, putting up 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
JJJ isn’t the most prolific rebounder in basketball, but he should find success tonight. The Pistons are normally solid on the glass, holding opponents to the eighth-fewest boards (51.2) per game. However, that number has skyrocketed to 61.3 over the team’s last three contests, the NBA’s worst mark in time. Keeping that in mind, Jackson Jr. is poised to make an impact as a rebounder on Saturday.
Tim Hardaway Jr. more than 11.5 points per game
The upstart Pistons have been carried by a young, up-and-coming roster. However, there are still a few veterans worth mentioning for Detroit. Tim Hardaway Jr. isn’t the most consistent player, but he’s been at his best recently. Over his last five appearances, the veteran has averaged 22.0 points on 52.2% shooting from the field (51.2 3PT%).
THJ is poised for another solid performance on Saturday. The Pistons will host the Grizzlies, a team that plays at the NBA’s fastest pace (103.32). That rapid tempo allows for extra possessions, and more production, for both sides. It helps that Memphis has allowed the 12th-most points to opponents this season (114.1). On a hot streak, Hardaway Jr. should remain an integral piece in Detroit’s offense.
Ryan Rollins more than 1.5 three-pointers made
Left without Damian Lillard (calf), the Bucks have been forced to use some lesser-known names in their back court. That includes Ryan Rollins; prior to Lillard’s injury, the third-year pro hadn’t done much in the NBA. However, he’s taken full advantage of this new opportunity. Over Milwaukee’s last five games, the guard has posted 16.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
What’s made Rollins’ recent run so remarkable is his efficiency. The 22-year-old has shot 66.7% from the field and 70.0% from three-point range since March 26th. He’ll look to continue that success from beyond the arc tonight in Miami. The Heat have allowed opponents to hit the 12th-most three-pointers per game (13.7) this season. As long as the Bucks give their newest weapon enough minutes, he should hit a few shots from deep.
Norman Powell more than 20.5 points
Since Kawhi Leonard’s return, Norman Powell has seen his role in Los Angeles’ offense diminish. Still, the veteran remains one of the association’s best complimentary scorers. This season, the 31-year-old has averaged 22.2 points on 48.8% shooting from the field (42.3 3PT%). However, that number has shrunk to 14.1 points since the All-Star break.
Powell has a strong chance at getting back on track tonight when the Clippers host Dallas. The guard has scored at least 20 points in four of his previous seven appearances vs. the Mavericks; two of those outings came this season. Opponents have made 16.3 three-pointers over Dallas’ last three games, fifth-worst in basketball. With all the attention on Leonard and James Harden, Los Angeles’ sharpshooter will have space from beyond the arc.
