The 2025 MLB season is finally here, and there are far more ways to get involved in the action than just via traditional betting. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!

MLB 4/5/25 Pick6 Plays

Check out MLB Pick6 here, and read on for my top plays for today’s Saturday slate.

Matt Olson More Than 0.5 RBIs

After a disastrous start to the 2025 season, the Braves finally got their first win of the season over the Marlins yesterday. Not only did the Braves win, but their offense exploded for ten runs. Matt Olson played a huge role in that performance, hitting a home run and racking up three RBIs.

Tonight, Olson and the Braves face Cal Quantrill, who Olson has had success against throughout his career. In nine career plate appearances against Quantrill, Olson has three hits and three walks. Olson has hit better against righties throughout his career with tOPS+ of 106 compared to just 86 against lefties. Olson should be able to carry over the momentum from yesterday’s game and drive in at least one more run against the Marlins.

Pete Alonso More Than 0.5 RBIs

After an uncertain offseason, Pete Alonso has been fantastic to start the year for the Mets. In just seven games, Alonso already has three home runs, 10 RBIs and an OPS of 1.183. The top of the Mets lineup with Lindor, Soto, Alonso and Nimmo is looking dangerous thus far. The protection for Alonso with so many great hitters around him has freed him up. Alonso has also always been a player that goes on long hot or cold streaks. When Alonso is confident and sees the strike zone well, he is one of the best power hitters in baseball. However, he can also go on long runs of feebleness when his confidence is low.

At the moment, Alonso’s confidence is at a high, and he is getting a lot of opportunities to drive in runs with Lindor and Soto getting on base ahead of his at-bats. Alonso will get to face his former teammate, Chris Bassitt, in this game. Bassitt struggled with his consistency last season, and even though Bassitt looked good in his first start of the new year, he could struggle against this hot Mets lineup and especially Alonso.

Yordan Alvarez More Than 0.5 Home Runs

Yordan Alvarez is one of the best power hitters in the game, hitting 31 or more homers each of the last four seasons. Alvarez is yet to hit his first of this season, but this could be the perfect opportunity.

In just nine career plate appearances against Bailey Ober, Alvarez has two home runs. Alvarez should get plenty of pitches to hit off of Ober and punish him, just like he did in the past. In his career, Alvarez has a 106 tOPS+ against right-handed starters, compared to 87 against left-handed starters. To make matters worse for Ober, his confidence will be low after getting shelled in his first start of the season. Ober gave up eight runs in just 2.2 innings against the Cardinals. That terrible performance included giving up two home runs. Ober is liable to give up the long ball and Alvarez is exactly the man to take advantage of those struggles.

JP Sears More Than 5.5 Strikeouts Thrown

JP Sears had a solid first start of the 2025 season. The left-hander went 6.2 innings, giving up just two runs against Seattle. Sears struck out seven Mariners in that game, working the strike zone very effectively.

Now, Sears will get a very favorable matchup against Colorado for his second start of the season. The Rockies have the worst offense in baseball so far this season. They have scored just 14 runs, the fewest in the league, and they have struck out 82 times, the second-most in baseball. Sears will be confident after his good start to the season and should aggressively go after these struggling Rockies bats.

Jose Altuve More Than 1.5 Total Bases

Jose Altuve is off to a steady start this season. Altuve has at least one hit in six out of seven games so far this season. He has struggled to get the power going with just one home run and one RBI, but he is consistently getting on base with a batting average of .321.

Just like Yordan Alvarez, Altuve has dominated Bailey Ober in the past. Again, just like his teammate, Altuve has two home runs in nine career plate appearances against Ober. After Ober’s dreadful start to the season, he should feel intimated facing off against these two batters who have given him so much trouble in the past. Altuve should keep up his consistent start to the season getting base hits, but could also find more power against Ober. Whether it is multiple singles or an extra-base hit, Altuve should get over this number against the Twins.

Ryan Mountcastle More Than 1.5 Total Bases

Ryan Mountcastle is poised for a big game today against the Royals. Mountcastle has had a bit of a slow start to the season but does have a base hit in four of his past five games. He could find some power today against Michael Wacha, however. In 19 career at-bats against Wacha, Mountcastle has three home runs and a triple. That is good enough for a career slugging percentage of 1.000 against the right-hander.

Wacha struggled with his command in his first start of this season against Cleveland. He only gave up one run, but after walking four batters and giving up four hits, Wacha was pulled after just four innings of work. The Guardians were unable to drive in more runs, but Wacha never got into any sort of rhythm. If the same thing happens today, the Orioles, and Mountcastle in particular, should jump on him. Mountcastle would love to register his first home run of the year against a pitcher who he has crushed in the past.
