Trey McBride signs extension with Cardinals

Coming off his first Pro Bowl season, McBride has agreed to a four-year, $76 million extension with the Cardinals, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. According to Schefter, $43 million of the contract is guaranteed and McBride will be earning $19 million per year, making the highest paid tight end in NFL history.

Last season, McBride caught 111 passes for 1,146 yards, both of which ranked second among all tight ends, only trailing Brock Bowers. Despite McBride’s success, he only scored two touchdowns, but he is certainly due for some positive regression in that department next season, as McBride led all tight ends with 34 redzone targets. Fantasy wise, McBride tied Bowers for the most FPTS per game among tight ends at 15.8. While Bowers will be the first tight end selected in most fantasy football drafts this upcoming summer, McBride will likely be the next tight off the board, especially for full PPR formats.

While locking McBride in for the long haul is great news for the Cardinals, they still carry very long +7500 odds to win the Super Bowl next season on DraftKings Sportsbook.
