Geno Smith signs extension with Raiders

Before even playing a game in a Raiders uniform, Smith has agreed to a large extension with Las Vegas. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Smith has agreed to a two-year, $75 million extension with the Raiders, that is worth up to $85.5 million.

Last month, the Seahawks traded Smith to the Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick in this upcoming NFL draft. In Las Vegas, Smith is reunited with HC Pete Carroll, who coached Smith in Seattle for six seasons.

Smith is 34-years-old, but he is coming off a solid season with the Seahawks, throwing for 21 touchdowns and ranking fourth in the NFL with 4,320 yards. However, Smith did struggle with turnovers, ranking third in the league with 15 interceptions.

While this huge extension for Smith certainly feels like an overpay by the Raiders, the franchise has been desperate for a consistent quarterback for years and Smith is without a doubt is going to improve their offense. With an efficient passer in Smith under center, tight end Brock Bowers should be in store for another huge season and he will be the consensus first tight end selected in fantasy football drafts this coming summer.

The Raiders O/U for wins this upcoming season is set a low 6.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook and attacking the over on this line has merit, as Smith won at least eight games in each of his final three seasons with the Seahawks.
