MLB Prop Bets for April 3, 2025
Carlos Carrasco over 2.5 earned runs allowed +105
It’s hard to feel good about Carlos Carrasco throwing a baseball, especially in a hitter’s park. He’s topped out in the low 90s on his fastball and looks to be using a sinker as his main pitch. The Brewers roughed him up in his lone appearance out of the bullpen thus far, tagging him for three runs on five hits in just two innings of work. If he is indeed using a sinker as his main pitch, this Diamondbacks team can annihilate that pitch. Last season, this lineup combined for a .396 wOBA with a .218 ISO against it. I believe they’ll jump on him early, thus putting him over 2.5 earned runs allowed.

Corbin Carroll over 1.5 bases +120
Carrasco was hit hard by both sides of the plate last season. Against lefties, he had a .356 wOBA with a 4.85 FIP and a 1.55 HR/9. Carroll, who’ll be hitting leadoff, hits the sinker well. He had a .415 wOBA and a .196 ISO against that pitch through 63 plate appearances. Carroll has been hitting for power out of the gate with two doubles and a home run among his five hits. With a realistic chance of at least five at-bats today, especially if the D-Backs do pile on Carrasco early, I like him to go over 1.5 bases tonight.

Cincinnati Reds over 3.5 runs -125
It’s easy to pile on Nestor Cortes after his historically bad start against the Yankees. But, we’re giving him too much respect still. I truly believe he’s cooked and is not going to bounce back tonight. His strikeout numbers have been going down and last year against righties, he had a K/9 of just 7.8. He’s averaging less than a strikeout per inning against righties. This Reds lineup is full of right-handed bats who should be making a lot of contact. That’s not a good thing for Cortes. So, I feel good about the Reds going over their team total, even after coming off a fairly quiet offensive showing against the Rangers. This Reds team can handle fastballs, which is what Cortes will be throwing.
