The Diamondbacks are doing their best to wring all the offense they can out of Eugenio Suarez in New York before they leave town. The Yankees desperately want to avoid a sweep. While they’re busy figuring out the most effective way to snap broom handles, Corbin Carroll remains locked in on a hopeful 2024 resurgence. If the Diamondbacks hope to sustain any of this lineup’s teeth, Carroll’s bat will be at the forefront. I’ll get into whether or not I predict that to happen in tonight’s Yankees vs. Diamondbacks game to end their first series.
Below is my favorite Carroll prop, with analysis.

With Arizona looking to bust out the brooms, I expect the Yankees to dog-and-pony show their way to a torpedo bat win here. And I think it’ll look a lot like shutting the Diamondbacks’ over-performing offense down. Eugenio Suarez’s driven much of that with whopping five home runs and 20+ total bases so far this season (the Diamondbacks have eight HR totals). Small sample size. But the reality is: if Suarez isn’t ripping, the rest of the offense struggles to carry its weight.
Carroll has three runs on the year, and he’s scored all of them since Monday of this week. In the five at-bats he has against Yankees’ starter Carlos Carrasco, he’s walked once, singled once, and failed to reach base thrice. I expect Carrasco to be sharper than his first start (2+ IP, 2.50 WHIP, double-digit ERA, etc.). But it is true that one pull-heavy swing of Carroll’s barrel could bust this bet.
The Yankees as have scored more runs than the Diamondbacks (to the tune of 44-38 over the last five games) and—I say again—Arizona has been over-performing, and largely just because of one player. I think Yankees win tonight and avoid the sweep, and try to capitalize on lefty-lefty bullpen matchups for Carroll as the game wears on.
Not to mention, as you can see above, the weather (according to Accuweather) for the game looks fairly crummy. Not exactly air quality befit for driving the ball, if you ask me.
If you’re feeling blech-y about taking such a small, boring, and ultra-bustable under, I do like Carroll’s HR prop at +550. Short porch in left there in New York, have you heard? Of the three runs he’s scored all year, one of them has come on a jack. I’d expect the same tonight if he does manage to get on the board, which I don’t project him to do.
