The Valero Texas Open is played at TPC San Antonio. TPC San Antonio is a par-72 golf course and ranges 7,494 yards. The greens are Bermudagrass, just like they were last week in Houston. The Valero Texas Open field will feature 150 golfers, and there is a standard 36-hole cut with the top 65 and ties making the weekend. This is the last event on the PGA TOUR before The Masters. Some top players like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are taking the week off to rest, while others like Jordan Spieth, Ludvig Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Cantlay are using this week as a tune-up for Augusta. For some in the field, this is also their last chance to qualify for Augusta with a strong performance in Texas.

Jordan Spieth Top 10 (+210)
Former Masters champion Jordan Spieth is hoping to round his game into form before returning to Augusta next week. In addition to being a former winner at Augusta, Spieth has also won at the Valero Texas Open. Spieth has a great history at TPC San Antonio, winning the event in 2021, finishing in second place in 2019 and finishing in the top ten in both 2014 and 2024. So, not only has Spieth won the event before, but he also has a top-ten finish in his most recent trip to TPC San Antonio. The Texas native has always played well in his home state throughout the years. Over his last 36 rounds, Spieth ranks first in strokes gained (+1.97) in tournaments in Texas across this entire tournament field.
Spieth has only played six events so far this season, but he has two top-ten finishes. He finished T4 at the WM Phoenix Open and T9 at the Cognizant Classic. Those were two very strong fields where Spieth held up against some of the best players in the world. It has been a rocky few seasons for Spieth, but he underwent wrist surgery in August of 2024, cutting that season short, and his game has looked much better to start this year. According to Spieth, that wrist had been an issue for several years, but he kept putting off getting surgery.
After a string of bad results last season, he finally decided it was time to get it done. Top-ten finishes in two of six starts so far would indicate that his game is indeed moving in the right direction. With such a great course history at TPC San Antonio, he should finish inside the top ten once again at the Valero Texas Open.
