J.T. Poston + Rickie Fowler + Ryan Gerard to make the cut (+234)
Poston is one of the safest bets to make the cut this week. The veteran has never missed a cut in four tries at TPC San Antonio and he has only failed to make the cut once in his last 13 starts. The three-time PGA TOUR winner has gained strokes on approach at seven consecutive events and Poston ranks 14th in par five performance this season, setting him up perfectly for TPC San Antonio. For two years running, the winner at this Texas track has led their field in SG APP and par five efficiency.
While Fowler rarely contends anymore, the 36-year-old is still a great cut maker. When excluding his first-round withdrawal from the WM Phoenix Open in February, Fowler has only missed one cut in his last 13 starts and that mishap came in the volatile conditions of the Scottish Open. At TPC San Antonio, Fowler has made 3-of-5 cuts and all three of these finishes were results of T-17 or better. Overall, the veteran has only missed one cut in his last six starts in Texas.
Gerard has been one of the best ball-strikers on the PGA TOUR this season and his expertise in this department has translated into plenty of success. Ranking 15th in SG APP this season, Gerard has made 8-of-9 cuts with four top-25 finishes. Most notably, he just posted a T-9 finish at the Texas Children’s Houston Open last week while gaining a career-high 7.7 strokes on approach, which ranked second for the tournament. Gerard finished T-56 in his only start at TPC San Antonio two years ago and he should outdo himself with an even better performance this week. Currently, Gerard sits at a career-best No. 143 in the world golf rankings, which is 140 spots higher than when he first teed it up at TPC San Antonio in 2023.
