Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever guard, is poised for her second WNBA season after an extraordinary rookie campaign that earned her the 2024 Associated Press WNBA Rookie of the Year award. Clark shattered numerous rookie records and set high expectations for the upcoming season.

Clark’s debut season was nothing short of historic. She led all rookies with averages of 19.2 points and 8.4 assists per game, setting new WNBA records for a rookie in both assists and three-pointers. Her exceptional performance earned her a spot on the AP All-WNBA First Team, showcasing her immediate impact in the league.

As DraftKings Sportsbook highlights her in several key betting categories, Clark faces lofty expectations for her sophomore campaign after making no shortage of history in her first season.

Clark is favored at -110 to lead the WNBA in three-pointers made per game. Her sharpshooting prowess was on full display last season, where she averaged 3.1 three-pointers on 8.9 attempts per game, making her one of the league’s most formidable shooting threats.

After leading the WNBA in assists as a rookie, Clark’s odds to do it again this season are -280, making her the favorite again. Last season, she topped this category with 8.4 assists per game and significantly outpaced her nearest competitor, Alyssa Thomas, who averaged 7.9 assists.

While A’ja Wilson, who led the league with an average of 26.9 points per game last season, is the preseason favorite at -120 to be the WNBA’s top scorer, Clark is also a strong contender with +450 odds. Her scoring ability, highlighted by her averaging 19.2 points per game in her rookie year, makes her a significant threat on the offensive end.

Fever Used Offseason Moves to Build Around Caitlin Clark

The Fever finished the 2024 regular season with a 20-20 record, securing their first playoff appearance since 2016 and ending a seven-year postseason drought. Indiana’s offseason moves include acquiring veteran forward DeWanna Bonner, sharpshooter Sophie Cunningham, and signing Natasha Howard. These players are expected to complement Clark’s skills and help address areas where the team needs depth and experience.

Reflecting on the Indiana Fever’s active offseason, Caitlin Clark expressed her optimism about the team’s direction after a season that marked significant progress.

“I think it’ll be a lot of fun to get in the gym and be with my teammates and just start putting the pieces together and see what works, what doesn’t work,” Clark said. “We’re gonna have a lot of different options to do a lot of different things, and that’s what’s super exciting about it all.”

Despite being swept two games to zero by the third-seeded Connecticut Sun in the first round of the playoffs, the team’s performance signaled a positive turnaround, as they posted their highest regular-season win total since 2015.

As Clark prepares for the new WNBA season, her evolving role as a leader and key player will be crucial in steering the Fever toward success. With Clark expected to take another leap, Indiana ranks fourth in WNBA championship odds.

The Fever begin the season facing the Chicago Sky on May 17 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
