For the final event before the Masters, the PGA TOUR is hosting the Valero Texas Open this week. The Oaks Course of TPC San Antonio (par 72, 7,438 yards, POA Trivialis greens) is hosting this event and has been the home of the Valero Texas Open since 2010. At this tournament last year, Akshay Bhatia (-20) defeated Denny McCarthy in a playoff to claim his second PGA TOUR win. For this week, there will be 150 players competing and there will be a standard top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
The Oaks Course of TPC San Antonio was designed by Greg Norman and is a tree-lined parkland course that features thin rough, large greens, 64 bunkers and water in play on three holes. With the rough not penalizing at this venue, players can freely swing their driver at TPC San Antonio and targeting strong drivers is a smart choice at this long, flat track. Of the last five winners at TPC San Antonio, four have finished the event top-12 in SG OTT. More importantly, having a great showing with your irons is essential at TPC San Antonio. Bhatia led his field in SG APP during his Valero win last season and three of the last five victors at TPC San Antonio have led their fields in the category. With this course being a normal par 72 that features 10 par fours, four par threes and four par fives, scoring on the par fives is most vital. Including Bhatia last year, three of the last five winners at TPC San Antonio have led their fields in par five efficiency.

Charley Hoffman ($7,400) – Hoffman knows TPC San Antonio like the back of his hand. The veteran has only missed one cut in 14 starts at the Texas venue and 10 of these finishes have come inside the top-25. Most notably, Hoffman won at TPC San Antonio in 2016 and he also has four other top-three finishes at this par 72 on his resume. Among the players in this week’s field that have competed at TPC San Antonio more than once, Hoffman ranks fifth in strokes gained per round.
Hoffman now returns to TPC San Antonio as the maker of 6-of-8 cuts this season with three top-25 finishes. The 48-year-old has been extremely consistent as a ball-striker, gaining strokes on approach at every event in 2025 and he ranks 28th in SG APP for the season, which is the highest he has ranked in the major category since 2021. Hoffman has much better upside than his low price tag suggests and is one of the best values available this week. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Hoffman carries +6500 odds to win the Valero Texas Open, which are the best among all the players priced under $7.5K for DFS this week.
Tom Hoge ($7,400) – Hoge is coming off one of the best finishes of his career with a T-3 at THE PLAYERS Championship two weeks ago. The 38-year-old finished the event with a 6-under 66 at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday, which tied for the lowest score of the final round. Also, Hoge led the world-class field at THE PLAYERS Championship in SG APP. Hoge ranks 14th in the statistic this season and he has made 8-of-9 cuts with three top-25 finishes.
Looking to build off his impressive showing at TPC Sawgrass, Hoge brings great upside relative to his low salary at another TPC course this week. At TPC San Antonio, Hoge has advanced to the weekend in three of his last five starts, including a T-9 in 2016 and a T-12 last season.
Sam Ryder ($7,200) – Ryder has been very reliable this season. The veteran has yet to miss a cut in nine starts and four of these finishes have come inside the top-25, including a T-16 at the Valspar Championship two weeks ago. Ryder has shot even par or better in 30 of his 36 rounds this season and he has been a wizard on the greens, ranking third in SGP.
At TPC San Antonio, Ryder has been hit-or-miss with a 3-for-6 record in terms of made cuts, but he displayed excellent upside at the venue two years ago, finishing T-3 while ranking top-five in both SG APP and SGP for the event. While we can’t expect this type of result, Ryder is a threat to finish inside the top-25 considering his excellent form.
Victor Perez ($7,100) – Perez finished T-18 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open last week and he closed the event with a 5-under 65 on Sunday. This marked Perez’s fourth made cut in a row and his third straight finish of T-22 or better. During this cut streak, the French professional has shot under par in 12 of his 16 rounds.
Perez has been one of the best drivers on the PGA TOUR this season, ranking ninth in total driving and his flat stick has been red-hot with him gaining over 2.0 strokes with his putter in back-to-back starts. Perez posted a solid T-45 finish in his Valero Texas Open debut last year and he has the potential to finish even higher in his second attempt at TPC San Antonio this week.
