It’s rare that the best college basketball team wins the NCAA Tournament. It’s the nature of March Madness for upsets to wreck havoc. Not this year.
The 2025 tournament lacked cinderella teams and shocking outcomes. It’s been a very chalky bracket as all four No. 1 seeds punched their ticket to the Final Four. Although not upset-heavy, the tournament is historical.
It’s just the second time ever since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams that all four No. 1 seeds reached the Final Four. The only other instance was in 2008 with Kansas, Memphis, North Carolina and UCLA.
While all No. 1 seeds made it, North Carolina was the top No. 1 team. The Tar Heels lost to Kansas in the Final Four. Kansas and Memphis faced off in the championship with the Jayhawks taking home the trophy.
Auburn is 2025’s top No. 1 seed, so it’s possible for the Tigers to make even more history. Not only would this be the program’s first title, but it would mean the top team won in a year that all four No. 1 seeds reached the Final Four.
The Tigers are joined by Duke, Florida and Houston in the 2025 Final Four. Florida will play Auburn, while Houston will play Duke.
Florida is opening as a 2.5-point favorite over Auburn, and Duke is a 4.5-point favorite over Houston on DraftKings Sportsbook. Both games will take place in San Antonio, Texas at the Alamodome.
