There may not be a better bounce-back candidate in the National League than Corbin Carroll.
After a debut season that netted him a unanimous Rookie of the Year Award and a fifth-place MVP finish, along with a World Series appearance, a shoulder injury set him back from what should have been a major step forward during his sophomore year. Now he’s healthy and on the hunt to regain his MVP-level form.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Arizona is the home favorite at -148 and the run total is set for nine. Below, I’ve highlighted my favorite prop bets centered around Carroll.

Making a favored play on a batter to score a run isn’t always my preferred play, but I think this is a strong look based on the pitching matchup.
Jameson Taillon, the expected starter for the Cubs, got tuned up this spring and has yet to find his form with the Cubs. With Carroll hitting out of the two hole, it would be hard for the Diamondbacks to have a successful offensive showing without Corbin finding himself crossing home plate. Lourdes Gurriel, batting third behind Carroll, is also massively overdue against Taillon with a 1-for-18 career mark. If he finds himself on base a couple of times, Arizona’s solid lineup should find a way to bring him home.

If Taillon struggles as I expect him to, the cleanup men in Chicago’s bullpen don’t inspire confidence. Things could spiral out of control if he fails to make it through five innings, and Arizona’s lineup would feast. Give Carroll four or five at-bats and he’ll find some open grass more than once.
I’m all the way in on Carroll making his mark in tonight’s game. It could be a huge night for the MVP hopeful.
