The 30-year-old superstar is off to a hot start already in 2025. He batted .304 in a limited spring training sample before taking the field in the Tokyo Series, which rang in the first two games of the regular season overseas. In those two games, he batted three-for-eight with seven total bases, a home run, and two walks. The Dodgers are already 2-0 on the year, and they look to get rolling again on Thursday against Detroit.
AL Cy Young Award-winner Tarik Skubal is on the bump for Detroit, so the starter matchup is a very tough one for the Dodgers. With that said, I like Ohtani to record over 1.5 total bases on Opening Day. He’s one of the best batters in the league — if not the top guy — and is always a threat to launch an extra-base hit in any given matchup. At +125 odds, it’s my top Ohtani prop bet for the action.
