According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, QB Russell Wilson is signing a one-year, $21 million deal with the Giants with $10.5 million guaranteed.
Wilson is coming off a year with 2,482 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. He completed 63.7% of his passes while leading the Steelers to a playoff berth.
The Giants now have Wilson and Jameis Winston on the roster, so the question remains if they will still opt to pick a quarterback with the #3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Regardless, Wilson will likely enter the season as the starter and look to settle the ship in New York. The Giants have a serious lack of weapons outside of Malik Nabers, so Wilson will have his hands full as things stand.
Wilson’s arrival in New York should give some hope to Giants fans, but it’s yet to be seen what the rest of this offense will look like. Regardless, Wilson is an upgrade from the days of Danny Dimes, so it’s a step in the right direction for the G-Men. Wilson will now play for his third team in as many seasons, and will hope this stint goes better than the previous two. Wilson isn’t his old Seattle self these days, but he may be one of the best options for a “bridge quarterback” in the National Football League.
