C Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks vs. Dallas Mavericks, $10,000
With Jalen Brunson (ankle) still sidelined, the Knicks will continue to run a majority of their offense through Towns. It’s a strategy that’s looked pretty good for the big man in his last three starts. Since March 19, Towns is averaging 29.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest. That includes dropping a 31-point, 11-rebound double-double on the Wizards his last time taking the court. The Mavericks aren’t quite as inept as Washington, yet Dallas does own an ugly 123.0 defensive rating over its last 10 games. The team will be without Anthony Davis (adductor) on the second night of a back-to-back set, leaving the roster with zero rim protection. For 2024-25 as a whole, Towns produces 1.53 FPTS per minute with Brunson off the floor. He also possesses a notable 32.7% usage rate. Look for the All-Star to own the paint and the glass on Tuesday at the Garden.
PG Keyonte George, Utah Jazz vs. Memphis Grizzlies, $6,100
I’ll be 100% honest: Trying to figure out the Jazz makes my brain hurt. As such, it’s a little scary to guarantee that any Utah asset is going to be a must-start on a given slate. However, I’m willing to make an exception on Tuesday. That’s how tantalizing this game environment is. NBA DFS analysts will throw around the term “uptempo” quite a bit, but this is truly a situation that warrants the description. In the month of March, the two fastest-paced teams in the Western Conference have been the Jazz (103.9) and the Grizzlies (102.0). So, it shouldn’t come as a total shock that this tilt carries the slate’s highest implied total by a pretty wide margin. George’s role has been steady since returning from a four-game injury absence back on March 17. In that span, despite not starting a single time, George leads all Utah players in minutes (29.6), while sitting second in touches (66.5). If there’s anyone you can trust on this roster, it appears to be the sophomore guard.
SF/PF Jimmy Butler, Golden State Warriors at Miami Heat, $8,700
Let’s all fully embrace the narrative, shall we? Butler has been on quite the run since March 6, registering at least 40 FPTS in seven of his last nine starts. Specific to Butler’s past four games, the veteran is averaging 22.0 points, 9.0 assists and 7.8 rebounds. It’s a run of amazing play that includes Butler dropping a 59.75 FPTS triple-double on the Raptors last week. Steph Curry ($9,100; pelvis) left that contest early and then proceeded to miss Saturday’s loss to Atlanta. He’s listed as questionable for this evening. Curry’s status is of significance to Butler’s viability on this slate, as the forward leads all qualified Golden State players since in usage rate (26.7%) with Curry off the floor since being traded back on February 8. Still, Butler’s been taking on a larger role even with Curry available in recent games and he’ll be out looking for blood against a Heat squad that was, well, stealing his joy to begin 2024-25. I’ll always side with an angry or vindictive Jimmy.
