UPDATE: Curry has now been ruled out Tuesday against the Heat.
Superstar point guard Steph Curry missed the Warriors’ last game due to a pelvic injury, but Golden State may not be without him for long.
Per the Warriors, Curry will be questionable for Tuesday’s contest against the Miami Heat.
Per Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the point guard did practice on Monday and went through an individual workout, as well. Whether he takes the court on Tuesday depends on how his body responds to Monday’s work.
The 36-year-old originally sustained the injury on March 20 during a game against the Toronto Raptors. He logged only 25 minutes of play in that one, then missed Saturday’s game because of the ailment.
Curry averages 24.1 points and 6.0 assists per game in 60 appearances for the Warriors. Since the All-Star break, though, the Warriors are one of the hottest teams in the league due in no small part to excellent play by their point guard. Across those 14 games, Curry is averaging 26.5 PPG on 49.0% shooting from the field and 41.1% from three-point range, both increases from his pre-All-Star splits.
If Curry can’t play on Tuesday, expect Jimmy Butler to shoulder the majority of the workload for the Warriors as he has in Curry’s absence lately. He posted 25 points and eight assists against the Hawks on Saturday, as well as 24 points along with eight rebounds and 10 assists against the Bucks on March 18 — both games Curry didn’t appear in.
The Warriors are 41-30 on the season and sit sixth in the Western Conference. With just 11 games to go, they’ll look to gain ground on the seventh-place Minnesota Timberwolves, who are just half a game back of Golden State.
