UPDATE: Williamson has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup vs. the Pistons. With the forward out, Detroit has moved to a 13.5-point favorite over the Pelicans on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Zion Williamson is listed as questionable with a back injury for the New Orleans Pelicans matchup with the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, March 23. He missed the previous game with the same issue which was officially labeled a lower back contusion.
Williamson’s talent continues to be at a high level, but his availability is still a concern. The Duke product has suited up for just 30 games this season, averaging 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

New Orleans has dropped to 19-52 on the season which is the fourth-worst record in the league. Injuries have been the story of the season with the Pelicans unable to get a true sample size of how the team was designed to produce.
With their spot in the standings and Williamson’s injury track record in mind, the Pelicans have wisely been careful with the former No. 1 overall pick. The unfortunate reality is the best direction for the Pelicans is to hope for the best in the NBA Draft lottery and address the big-picture questions in the offseason.
Williamson’s status will be one to monitor leading up to the matchup. Currently, the Pistons are 11.5-point favorites while the Pelicans hold +340 odds on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook for the Sunday afternoon matchup.
