With the Tokyo Series in the books and Opening Day less than a week away, let’s take a look at the latest odds from DraftKings Sportsbook for the AL MVP race. It’s always fun to track the odds for the award as they shift throughout the year and track the race for the award, which is typically given to the best player in the League but does turn into a narrative award to some degree as well. It’s hard to win the award from a non-playoff team, but not impossible with an outstanding season.
This favorite for this year’s AL MVP award is the reigning MVP, Yankees OF Aaron Judge (+310). Judge won last year with all 30 first-place votes following an epic season and led the Yankees to 94 regular-season wins and the top spot in the American League. Ultimately, his Yankees fell short in the World Series against the Dodgers, but he definitely had another dominant regular season.
In this post, we’ll take a look at the latest odds and a few picks that I like at their current rates.
2025 AL MVP Award Odds
Aaron Judge (+310)
Judge has won the award in two of the last three years. He won in 2022 after smashing a record-setting 62 home runs, but in 2023, he was limited to 106 games and Shohei Ohtani claimed the award before moving to the National League.
Judge reclaimed the Award last year with 58 home runs in 158 games. He set new career highs with 144 RBI, a .322 batting average, a .379 ISO and a .476 wOBA.
If he stays healthy, he has a good chance to win the award once again. The Yankees are favored to win the AL East once again, and with Juan Soto playing across the city and Giancarlo Stanton (elbows) dealing with injury, he’ll be even more in the spotlight in the Bronx.
Judge is the favorite but +310 is not a bad number for him at all given how outstanding he was last season.
His Spring Training hasn’t looked great, which has helped this number stay so high, and he’s always been a slow starter to the season. Once he gets rolling, though, there aren’t many players who can match his offensive production.
Bobby Witt (+450)
Witt had a strong case last season and actually received all 30 second-place votes. He starts this season with the second-shortest odds to claim the award, and he has a very good shot at passing Judge if there’s any regression due to injury or losing Soto.
Witt finished second behind only Ohtani in MLB.com’s annual player survey ranking the best players in MLB. His offensive numbers don’t quite measure up to Judge’s but they’re not far off, and he brings elite defense at a premium position. Judge is a solid outfielder (World Series error aside), but Witt is outstanding at shortstop. He won the Gold Glove and the Silver Slugger at the position last year.
He played 161 of the Royals’ 162 game and smashed 32 home runs while logging a .332 batting average and .410 wOBA. He also added 31 stolen bases in 43 attempts. It was his second straight 30-30 season, and his third straight season with 30+ stolen bases.
If Witt’s strong all-around game can carry the Royals to the AL Central crown, he should once again be a top option for the AL MVP Award. Witt hit four homers in his first 14 Spring Training games, while going 13-for-39 (.333), so he looks ready to pick up right where he left off last season.
Wyatt Langford (+4000)
Langford is my favorite longshot for the AL MVP award. I covered him as one of my top breakout candidates at the start of Spring Training, and the 23-year-old has looked awesome in Spring Training, going 11-for-23 (.478) in his first eight games with a double, a triple and a home run.
Coming into last season, Langford got plenty of attention but posted mediocre overall numbers. He did play 134 games, and since he basically skipped Triple-A there definitely was a learning curve early in the season. In 499 at-bats, he hit a solid .253 with 16 home runs, 19 stolen bases, a .321 wOBA and a 110 wRC+. He showed signs that he’s ready to take it to the next level, though, with a red-hot September. He hit .300 with eight home runs, a .422 wOBA and a 180 wRC+ in the final month of a the season.
If Langford is a 30/30 producer and leads the Rangers back into the playoff race after their one-year hiatus following the 2023 World Series win, he could quickly climb into the middle of this race. Langford has the kind of name recognition it takes to win the award and if his delayed breakout happens this year, this odds will seem like a bargain!
