The Oklahoma City Thunder sit alone at the top of the Western Conference with a 56-12 record. Tomorrow, it appears they’re giving their MVP candidate a breather as they take on a banged-up Philadelphia 76ers unit.
Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has officially been ruled out Wednesday with a rest designation.
It’s a much-needed day off for the the 26-year-old, whose 33.0 points and 6.2 assists per contest have powered Oklahoma City to the top tier of NBA Finals contenders. Gilgeous-Alexander’s leap has been incredible to watch this season as he continues to develop his scoring bag while serving as the engine of this talented team. Even despite former second-overall pick Chet Holmgren missing significant time, the Thunder have been atop the West all season thanks to SGA’s ascension.
His co-star, Jalen Williams, has also been ruled out due to a hip injury. As for the rest of the lineup, Isaiah Hartenstein, Cason Wallace, and Lu Dort are all questionable to play on Wednesday.
With both Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams certain to miss the game, Holmgren is well-positioned to produce as the Thunder’s best remaining player. If Wallace and Dort are able to play, either of them could present solid DFS value by soaking up some available guard minutes.
