UAB vs. Memphis (3:30pm ET)
The Blazers dropped both regular season matchups against the Tigers, but get a third crack at them for all the marbles on Sunday afternoon in Texas. UAB will be playing as the more desperate team, as Memphis is comfortably in the NCAA Tournament field, regardless of the outcome. Meanwhile, the Blazers have a win-and-in situation to steal a bubble spot away from an at-large team.
While Memphis clearly has the talent advantage, the Tigers seem to be sleepwalking through the AAC Tournament. They opened up tournament play with a three-point win over Wichita State, and followed it up with a narrow one-point victory over Tulane, while priced as a sizable favorite in both games.
On the other side of the bracket, UAB has been playing with a purpose, winning both tournament games by double digits. That includes a 10-point victory over North Texas as a short underdog on Saturday, which improved UAB to 4-2 ATS when priced as a dog. Memphis, which is an impressive 6-2 ATS as a dog, has not been quite as locked in as a favorite at just 9-16 ATS. I’ll back the Blazers to keep this one tight behind one of their best efforts of the season, and potentially win the game outright if Memphis plays with the same effort level it has in the early going of this tournament.
