This is what March is all about—and, like, it’s not really even March March yet! It’s just SEC semifinals, and it’s still serving up a heavyweight battle between Alabama and Florida, two teams that stormed through their quarterfinal matchups with dominant performances. Florida enters as a 3.5-point favorite after dismantling Missouri 95-81, while Alabama put together one of its most impressive showings of the year in a 99-70 rout of Kentucky. Let’s get right into my preview, prediction, pick, and best bet for this semifinal college basketball game between Alabama and Florida in the SEC tournament today.
Here’s how I intend to play this afternoon barnburner. I’ll be picking individual games throughout the week, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more to-the-minute, point-of-need analyses and plays throughout conference tournament week.

Alabama vs. Florida preview, prediction
These teams met just over a week ago in Tuscaloosa, and it was an absolute track meet, with Florida escaping 99-94. It was the kind of up-and-down, no-defense affair that had everyone glued to the screen. The rematch? With the way both squads have been playing, it’s shaping up to be even better.
Alabama is relentless in transition, and their offense is as explosive as it gets. They average 84.3 points per game and have been even more lethal lately, putting up 90+ in three of their last five. Against Kentucky, their defense created havoc, forcing 16 turnovers and turning them into 29 points. Labaron Philon was outstanding, dropping 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Jarin Stevenson added 16 and proved a tough matchup in the paint. That performance wasn’t a fluke—Alabama has been thriving off takeaways, averaging 18.2 points off turnovers in their last five games. But their aggressive approach comes with risk. Their turnover margin over that stretch is -2.4, meaning they give the ball away too often in these high-paced games. Against a Florida team that knows how to capitalize on mistakes, that’s a dangerous way to live.
Florida, meanwhile, might be the most complete team left in the SEC field. They’re putting up 84.8 points per game and just torched Missouri for 95, looking completely in sync from start to finish. Alex Condon’s return has given them a dominant inside presence, and he showed out against Mizzou, finishing with 16 points and 14 boards. Walter Clayton Jr. continues to be the Gators’ engine, posting 22 points and eight assists in that win while controlling the pace. And pace matters here. Florida isn’t afraid to run, but they don’t need to. They’re far more structured than Alabama, and when the game slows down, they hold the advantage.
Florida at Alabama pick, best bet
That’s where Alabama struggles. If they’re not getting easy transition buckets, they get uncomfortable. In their last loss to Florida, the Gators forced Alabama into multiple late-shot-clock situations, and the Tide shot just 6-for-23 from three in the second half as a result. That’s the blueprint. If Florida keeps Alabama from turning this into a track meet, they win.
All signs point to one side here. The total (175.5) is massive, but considering these teams just put up 193 combined points, it’s a strong lean for anyone who wants some side action. But the best bet here is without a doubt Florida -3.5. The Gators are deeper, more balanced, and better at dictating the terms of engagement. Alabama will make runs, but Florida has already proven they can absorb those punches and take control when it matters.
Gators cover, and we ride with them.
Best bet: Florida -3.5 (-110)
Strong (and fun!) lean: Alabama vs. Florida o175.5 total points
